This was one of the more exciting NSDs in a while but let’s give all the info. Here are the recruits per year according to Rivals. I’ll break it down by 5,4, and 3 stars. 2022 is obviously still unfinished.

2022 Napier 1,4,4
2021 Mullen 1,11,9
2020 Mullen 2,15,7
2019 Mullen 1,14,10
2018 Mullen 0,14,4 (TRANSITION)
2017 Mac 0,15,7
2016 Mac 1,9,13
2015 Mac 2,5,11 (TRANSITION)
2014 Muschamp 1,12,11
2013 Muschamp 2,14,12

Everybody wants to bang Mullen on recruiting (his effort over the last 1.5 years has been garbage) but it wasn’t bad. Better than anybody over the last decade.

Mac’s classes were criminal.

Chump got a crap ton of 3*s.

The problem with Mullen is that, like basically every other aspect of the job, he could've been great if he'd cared. Not taking anything away from Napier's incredible start, but if yesterday taught us anything it's that UF still has brand power. As great as he is, he isn't doing that at Arkansas or Vtech in 4 days. Napier gets what Mullen and JM never did. Combine that brand with hard work, and the results will be amazing. They, instead, felt that they'd arrived and didn't have to put in the effort because "this is Florida". That gets you the occasional 4-5* just out of location. So it was all about the low-hanging fruit, like the 5* DE from georgia in 2016 who didn't even get a sniff from Richt, or kids that were going to UF regardless like CeCe Jefferson.

And yes, WM is constantly overblown as a recruiter. DBs and Bucks as far as the eye can see and a lot of fluff.

the Georgia class this years is fools gold as well. Of the 24 recruits only 2 offensive players are elite. An RB and a TE. Their QB has potential.

3/4 of their defensive class is DBs.

Because Muschamp

Armella didn’t look real sporty in that rep. Taylor on the other hand…

I doubt the guy is really as bad as he looked, but at least in that clip it seemed like he knew the DL was pretty formidable. Too high with no weight in front of his feet to catch and control the rush. Guy threw him aside with one arm. Would have loved to see some more reps before simply saying “F$U can have him!”
Scared money?

not sure really. He’s not super fast. He puts himself in good space and reads the play well from where he gets lined up. Breaks well in a straight line but no evidence that he’s quick enough to cut or move laterally to hang in coverage. Did not see any plays of that sort. Days of hybrids at UF would seem to be ending.

And hopefully days of confusion and out of position players...How many yards and plays did we give up for that? An in place 3* willing to stick someone beats a confused out of position 4* almost every time...Not to mention the FLAGS

Are you talking about the same guy that everyone here commented on last night as soon as he announced? If so, welcome to the conversation.

I brought it up last night along with Sam McCall rumors. People are acting like he only committed last night, but he actually sent in his LOI.

Go have a scotch with the other inbred fuchers

The reason for the Sam McCall rumors was supposedly he only signed because he thought that Travis kid was coming also then he pulled out after they signed.

6 kids from the 2017, 2018, and 2019 failed to make fall camp the year they were recruited. 2017 CC scandal, 2018 and 2019 all all different kinds of issues.
This crap can have cumulative effect as well. Just eroding a program from the inside while UA sits on its butt not improving facilities…

J cannot give up on his Mullen love. As embarrassing as it was, he still wants to justify it.

this data it's only useful if you're silly enough to believe that the number 34 player in the country is the same as the number 500, or whatever the currently grossly inflated four-star cutoff is.

now if you want real data go back and look at the top 250 kids that signed with each coach.

you could compare the top 25 Florida players for each.

none of that is going to be friendly to Mullins.

Butters actually signed more of those top-tier kids than Mullen by a large margin, especially given that Mullins top kids often never made it to class (non quals, injuries etc).

the flip side is also true Mullins landed far more upper level three star kids while Butters landed a bunch of real doozies, low 3 star borderline two star kids we stole from FIU.

you also only showed for some reason Chimps classes after the 4-8 season, and you know he was doing well in those classes.

in reality, the high four star kids top 250 types statistically achieve at about the same rate as the five star kids, whether you measure that by all sec to honors or NFL draft.

I would count those as first tier, second tier, third tier is the Mullen zone (Cowbell, Indiana,Mizzu players) high 3 star and low 4 stars, fourth tier the Sun belt zone etc. but I don't run a recruiting service.
