That really is the dooshy thing about his going to JSU. The whole NIL thing is troubling but at the end of the day, whatever, good for him. But to be a part of convincing guys to go somewhere and then backing out after they signed their NLI's is pretty low. He may be a phenom, but I hope when he enters the portal in a year or two, we take a pass on recruiting him.

Does anyone know how one gets out of an NLI? Would FSU really make the guy honor it if he had no desire to come now? Any chance he'd recommit to us? Would we want him?

Well, if McCall wants out and FSU makes him burn his transfer, then the it'll be the negative recruiting gift that will keep giving. Kids will know that FSU will stick it to you if you want out...period.

I agree. They’ll do everything possible to change his mind and string it out, but at the end of the day, they’ll let him out.

The tweet that kid Hunter put out was the most dishonest, disingenuous tripe ever typed on Twitter - and that's really saying something. It was cringe-worthy.
But he's a high school kid. Hillary reading her "acceptance speach" in tears was worse.

Kids that just signed an NLI are not eligible for the one time transfer. They have to give the school a year or petition for release.

Where did you read this? The Ewers kid just left Ohio State after taking a big NIL deal and never played a snap.

Where did you read this?
Asking for an NLI ReleaseI

The NLI basic penalty is that you lose one year of competition in all sports and must serve one year in residence at your next NLI institution.

The NLI complete release and the NCAA One-Time Transfer Exception are two different policies. The fact that a student is eligible for the NCAA One-Time Transfer Exception does not mean a student-athlete has received a complete release pursuant to the NLI program, nor does being granted the NCAA One-Time Transfer Exception eliminate the penalty provisions of the NLI.

Ewers enrolled in August, he was there a semester. Thanks for posting the info, I hadn't seen that.....
Still sucks for OSU as they wasted an initial counter on a guy that never saw the field.

So on the question of whether you release a guy that wants out of his NLI, I think it depends on whether you get the initial counter back. If you do, it's probably smart roster management to let him go. If you don't you probably make him join your team for a year and hope he changes his mind about leaving.

Not sure if it's official, but the NCAA is supposed to allow an additional (up to) 7 counters this year due to transfers and covid. But moving forward, there needs to be an adjustment to the counters rule. They can't allow mass transfers then not allow the school to fill the roster spots, which is a problem they (NCAA) created.

So funny Can't think of a better team for this to happen to. At the rate there going they'll be an FCS team before to long and we'll have to pay them big $$$ to play us at our homecoming game!

Are you really this clownish? It's a Gator board, we can trash FSU whenever we please.

Go back to Tallahassee.

I nearly disowned my oldest son for making a case for Georgia as a playoff team. Some people need to get with the program.

My whole point about McCall is this. If FSU were to force the issue in any way, then every school that recruits against them would say FSU doesn't care about you. Look at Sam McCall, they lied to him, had other recruits lie to him in order for him to sign. Then when the lies were revealed, they said screw you Sam, where not helping you out. Burn a year, burn your transfer, whatever the case is.

It's any school. Sorry that coach X left after ESD and you only signed to be coached by him. Well, guess you're kind of f'd, but we're glad you're here.
