All this bickering back and forth about a virus has, I think, distracted us from the bigger picture here. When head coaches stay behind at dingy bars in Cincinnati with hostesses from Bennigan’s rather than return, and teams look for reasons to get out of playing there, I think the issue clearly is Jacksonville sucks.

I removed all the political trash from this thread. I don't want it discussed in the main sports forum whether or not COVID is "real", who had it, who didn't have it, who almost died with it, whose relatives and/or friends DID die with it, if the poster HIMSELF died with it and is now posting from beyond the grave, how the media reports it, whether or not the stats can be trusted, etc.

Thank you, Ox.

You are truly an idiot if you believe what you just typed.

Example A: Texas A&M is pulling out of the bowl because of COVID protocols.
Example B: Texas A&M is pulling out of the bowl because of COVID protocols. That fake virus and the lies the media spreads continue to ruin college football.

See the difference?

OK, I’ll play. Which is it? A or B?

I’ve been doing lots of research on the subject. I’ve talked to dozens if not hundreds of professionals with the real info on what’s going on. I’ve examined all the data and even created some simple charts and graphs that even an idiot can understand. It all points to the obvious conclusion that Bert Bielema doesn’t actually exist. Wake up fools, this is all about control! Big phootball wants those conservative aggies out of the Gator Bowl and they'll stop at nothing to do it!

You'd think the Aggies would want to play in the Gator Bowl since it used to be a cow pasture.??

I get what you're saying but why is debate about the virus considered "political," per se? People's feelings about covid aren't necessarily tied to or aligned with their political ideology.

Maybe there's a better way to describe the type of posts you're trying to avoid. I'll leave it to a smarter poster than me to suggest a more accurate phrase. Which of course means the issue will most likely remain unresolved. :proud:

I'd have disagree with this a bit. Maybe not in every situation but as a whole, it's playing a huge role. Nextdoor social media platform in our area is exploding right now due to school districts decision to make masks optional after xmas break. If you read the comments, it's right down political lines. Sorry Ox, that's all I will say about it.

Politics aside, last time I checked, this isn’t medical discussion board either so anything related to COVID outside of e.g. “game canceled due to COVID,” discussion should end there.

Back in the day, Bennigans made the best Monte Crisco sandwich on the planet.

Interestingly, after a quick search, I am shocked to learn there are still 11 open in the US. I figured they closed for good 20 years ago.

Oh yeah, baby. Bring on those 5-7 Fighting Illini.

This will just push expanded play-offs...If the Bowls are meaningless...Why bother?

My thoughts are to let Small Bowls Sponsor a Conference Championship...i.e. Sun Belt, MAC, etc. Let the Major Bowls have the Play-Offs...They could even Bid on them. I might watch the MAC Championship Bowl...I'm not going to watch the meaningless Gator Bowl.

They should take the bowl games and let HS state champs from each state play in them instead. Kinda like a NC playoff for the top HS programs. I'd watch the hell out of that. Nike, UA and Gatorade can pay to fly them in and put them up. They are making a shyt ton of money off of them to begin with.

My point was not to defend the non-strictly-football-related comments, just to say that I didn't necessarily think they were "political" comments. I guess others disagree, but we can't have that debate without getting political.

Anyway, here are my two strictly-football-related comments about A&M withdrawing from their bowl game:

1. It's a forfeit and should go down as an L. :loser:

2. Who the Fuchs cares? :violin:

I met a girl last night named Covid. She was hot. Or maybe it was Cloe? She had some good weed so my memory is foggy.
