Whatever Mike White is telling these kids they have tuned him out. Leadership has to come from inside the locker room or this season is over. Time for our AD to get some anonymous player feedback and make some changes?

Well according to me the AD should always be involved (or someone on his staff who he trusts) with the players on every team. How did the woman's bball team get treated as they did? Now the season is way less than I expected especially how it started. Leadership always must come from the players, coaches can only do so much. Time for a change, perhaps past time.

Brad Steven’s isn’t leaving an executive position in the NBA to come to Gainesville to coach the Gators. Some of of you are taking some serious drugs…or need to be.

It was sarcasm, LOL. Brad Stevens would have only come back to college for 1 of 4 openings. Duke, UNC, UK, or KU. Two of those have already been filled leaving only KU or UK whenever that might be. He already said NO to IU multiple times, so no one is disagreeing with you.

I'm sort of impressed that the sorry state of UF BB can still generate five+ pages of comment and speculation. The only thing that actually surprises me about the subject of this thread (another decisive loss to a pretty good team), or the tone of the posts regarding MW, is that so many Gator fans kept hoping that he would finally get his act together and win some truly meaningful games at UF. TBH, I gave up any illusions that MW was the "guy" a long time ago.

Cut the lead to 1, and barn immediately responds with a ridiculous 3. It was all down from there. They need more consistency on offense other than, throw it down low to Castleton and let him score.

Ho hum.....

The only reason for the desperate optimism is the realization that Scottie won’t fire him.

My opinion all along has been that nothing short of a complete meltdown will motivate a change and historically White’s teams finish with mediocre records versus awful.
After Scottie used Covid as an excuse to extend him last year I don’t see any changes coming until they happen.
It took a complete meltdown in football before a change was made and the administration at least pretends to care about football.

What are you saying? Of course Stevens will want to leave his job as president of basketball operations for the Boston Celtics after an NBA coaching stint to come back to college life of recruiting and NIL at a Middling SEC program. But just in case he says no we have Jon Gruden and the ghost of Red Auerbach as backup plans.

I've got this icky feeling that Mullen's firing increases the odds that Stricklin will avoid striking that way again so soon.?

Me too.

More than one firing during a school year would feel too much like he was actually doing his job and that would make him uncomfortable.

White is missing practicing them just standing in place and repeatedly shooting to inculcate muscle memory for merely arching the ball into the basket.
Why the brag about White being a fine defensive coach when we hit 42.9% FGs and opponents hit 43.5%.?
Our inside man Castleton hits like 55% when insiders should hit around 60+%. Of course, opponents have only him to collapse on, so he gets beat up more than any player I've seen. No companion help. What kind of coaching/practicing is that.?
Applebee needs to be 4" taller.
Duruji is good but needs teammate help to punish opponents for collapsing on him.
Most of all, this team needs a basketball coach, asap ... wait.! we've already got a sap.

White runs off too many good players. We've lost too many to count. Omar Payne and Noah Locke come to mind. There is no consistency in the lineup. His offensive is improving actually but still relies on making 35%+ on 3 balls to win. We have nothing to hang our hats on. The kids play hard, but it'll never be enough to get past being average at everything else. We don't have enough ball handling skills, 3-pt shooting, or skilled big men.

It'll be two years of missing the Tourney before Stricknine will even considering firing the golden boy. This year is likely the first. Hopefully, some quality coaches get excited about the opportunity to coach the Gators before we collapse into a total rebuild.

I love college BB. I went to UK at the time of Rupp's Runts and they were phenomenal even though they were a small sized team; a 6'5" guy played center and a 6'3" guy (Pat Riley) jumped the tip-off. But I got drafted by our uncle and returned to college in '68 in Florida.

The Gators have some good players, but the word of the day is consistency or lack thereof. We also have a problem with being selfish. When Appleby runs down the court for a layup and a 7 footer is waiting for him, what does he do? He tries to throw a curve around the big guy.

I have seen some good offense and defense from this team, but the good things are rare and the result of ball movement and handling to set up a score. Unfortunately much of the time there is lazy passing, poor ball handling, and forcing shots. Unless every possession is considered critical, players are wasting their energy, and this is something that must be coached!

We shoot too many rim-clang shots - not practicing follow-through.? inattentive to body position.? practicing sloppy.? Coaching sloppy.
Is White leaving out predictive BB-IQ, positioning, anticipating.? or is he teaching them in holistic existential schemes and movements.?

MW’s player assessment skills are woefully deficient. He sold us on Omar Payne who was pretty bad his entire time here. Now he’s at Illinois averaging 1 point and 1 rebound a game in 8 minutes a game.

Noah Locke is a one dimensional shooter.

But you are dead on concerning our ballhandling and 3pt shooting
