I was wondering about Jones earlier. I looked around a bit and found this:

https://operations.nfl.com/media/5808/2021-22-cac-head-coach-guide.pdf

The NFL deadline to declare for the draft is 17 January. Could Jones be seeking an opnion from the College Advisory Committee (CAC) about his draft status?.

I am guessing that Elam declaring today means he very recently received his evaluation from the CAC. Or I guess Jones just could have decided to stay at UF at least through spring practice.
Is this a serious question? I have a better draft grade.

He certainly could decide to stay through spring. He would not be the first to enter the portal after seeing what the future looked like from the front row. Thanks for posting that info on the cac guide. Really interesting stuff.

Just because we think this is an outrageous idea, does not mean that Jones and his advisors have the same view. They likely view Jones as a guy with plenty of college game experience and all the physical tools to be an NFL starting QB.

Guess we will find out on or before 17 Jan.

Could also be finishing his last semester and get his degree while seeing how he shakes out in the Napier era.

It's best for the team if he goes elsewhere. The other QB's don't need the distraction, and we certainly don't want any coaches to get tempted to actually put him on the field ever again.

I agree on Jones. Further, I believe that Napier can get away with doing almost anything next fall EXCEPT starting a QB other than Richardson. If I were the new UF coach, I would send Richardson out there in a wheelchair if I had to. If Richardson is not the answer, this fan base needs to see it with their own eyes.

I'm fine if Napier thinks he's got a better QB than Richardson.
Sure, he looked great in comparison to EJ, but I'm not sold.

What I've read and seen out of Napier (and we ALL know I'm no football Guru) is he relies on discipline and the run to open up the pass...BUT who knows because his ULL QB was Functional...MAYBE a 3*+?

Napier supposedly uses multiple sets and shifts to disguise fairly basic pass routes and plays...easy QB reads.

He tries to do more with less. Who knows what he does with a QB like Trask who can read a field and react better than most?

I hope Jones leaves...He's been fed Mullen's feces for so long he believes it...BUT WE ALL see it...It's hard to accept no one wants what you're selling.

Well has was a run first guy as the OC at Clemson too. So I doubt his offensive preferences have anything to do with the star rating of his QB.

Napier needs to start whoever wins the competition. If that’s AR, great. If not, so be it.

I'm sold on what he'll be as a QB if given the proper opportunity, meaning treated like the #1, etc.
I'm not sold on his durability though. But I don't know how much of it was a Mullen fabrication or real durability issues. That's why Mullen can DIAF

For sure, Mullen was spouting injured when AR came out doing that "few can do" flip = good balance with excellent "stick the landing" ankle power. "Sit down son, you're feeling poorly."

One Ugly player and three guys from Bama entered the portal today. Three of the players must be way down the depth chart as I don't recall hearing their names last night. One though was a guy who did play a fair bit: Bama TE Jahleel Billingsley. I seem to recall him being in Nick's doghouse earlier this year.

He is a TE that returns kickoffs.

Enough said
