Foley should be fired. Muschamp, McElwain and Mullen should all be re-fired. And all should be exiled from the state of Florida permanently.

The stakes have never been higher. I hope BN at the very least fixes the talent gap if not win a Championship.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but UGA is here to stay for a long while. Kirby is an elite recruiter and knows how to coach them up….not saying they will go on a dynastic Bama type run but more often than not, they will be in the playoff hunt and a down year for them will now be considered a 9 win season which under Richt was considered the standard.

I actually agree with this that its time for us to own up and admit that while Kirby likely isn't the next Saban, he's not a lucky idiot who lucked into Scam Newton like Gene Chizik or Famous Rapis like Dumbo Fisher did. UGA is at the top of the pile now and its going to be a long climb for us. Thanks Fooley.

Possibly or possibly UGa/Kirby found fools gold lastnight. Kirby is a Muschamp with just a bit more focus on offense. He always knew he could win with defense, a running game and a crappy QB. Every once in a while there is no great team in college football, everything falls into place and the Kirby/Muschamp dream comes true. For example, Phil Fulmer won a title one year with T. Martin, a running game and solid D.

Last night may convince Kirby this is the way to win in college from here on out. So year after year from here on out I he might be running a defense/running team with a bad QB. This is a path for another long title drought.

They won last night because alabama was missing its biggest weapons. That's it. That's all. Its embarassing and infuriating to be sure and should light a major fire under BN to get out on the trail and recruit (he's already doing that anyways). But anyone acting like this win was Kirby's doing is an idiot. The stars aligned for them

There’s seldom any one reason why a team loses but rather several. The two elite Bama wideouts could have made a second-half difference. You also can’t overlook the impact of 30 yards rushing. That’s almost unheard of for Bama.

Georgia stuffed the run.

So what happened to all the money we did not spend on facilities and upgrades? Did Foley act like a turd and distribute other people's money to lesser sports; did we bank it and if so, where is it; or did it just disappear? The money that would have backed improvements had to go somewhere.

And that was easier to do absent the two WRs but I am surprised Bama did not have a two deep of very good WRs. That part surprises me. I guess I overestimated their depth.

A lot easier to stuff the run when your safeties don't have to worry about the passing game. Looking at the dropped passes by the Bama WR's makes one wonder what would have happened with Metchie and Williams being on the receiving end of those throws. Ugly would have had to respect the pass more as I don't think their CB's could have covered those guys one on one.

Scumbag.

Discuss.
My, how the mighty have fallen! Back in the 90's FOOLy was touted
as the best AD in America. Spurrier's MNC, Billy's back-to-back NCAA
Championships, etc, were all credited to his mastery of the job.
Then thing all went down hill. The hiring of "The Zooker", then his refusal
to back SOS in his bid to return to UF (only to have him settle in at USCe
& becoming a thorn in the side of the Gators) the slide of Gator basketball
into mediocrity, all laid at his doorstep. His hiring of "Mustchump" and
alas, "Ole Butter Toofers" certainly didn't do anything to enhance is legacy.
One of Foley's responsibilities as the University of Florida's athletic director was to act as chief financial officer (CFO) for the University Athletic Association. In that capacity he oversaw over $180 million in capital improvements, including two major expansions of the football stadium, the addition of a multi-purpose field house on campus and new facilities for tennis, track & field, soccer, baseball, golf, softball and swimming. Jeremy Foley managed an annual budget of more than $89 million, but was particularly proud of the athletic program's academic success. "The national average for student-athlete graduation is around 76 percent," he said. "At UF, 92 percent of student-athletes graduate."
Certainly, significant accomplishments, but neglectful of the cash cow of the University Athletic Programs,
Gator Football. In the meantime, rivals like Alabama, LSU, aTm, and Georgia poured tons of cash into their programs.
The end results of all of this are startling to witness. Alabama continues to dominate in the SECw, and closely pursued by LSU, Auburn and aTm. Georgia now rules the SECe, with lowly Kentucky and USCe (once penciled in as easy wins in pre-season forecasting) able to post W's against the once mighty Gators. UF now pins it's hopes on Billy Napier, the 5th HBC in the last 12 years.

It went two places:

Fooley obsessed over the nonrev sports and he overfunded them in an effort to be the OG woke AD.

In addition, Fooley pimped himself as the gold standard AD that was so good at his job that he bragged about donating unspent funds to the university.

While Fooley was looking at himself in a mirror, our SEC rivals were investing in their football program in an attempt to maximize performance and revenue.
Ten years later, our rivals have better football programs than us. These football programs are printing money and they are investing the additional funds into the nonrev sports.

The end result is that we have fallen off the map in football AND in the ultimate irony, we are no longer the best at nearly every one of those other sports.

Any business person worth their weight in sh!t would have known that Fooley’s approach was shortsighted but here we are a decade later wondering how Georgia has passed by us in multiple sports.

The Kirby is another Muschamp belief is laughable to me. You guys really think Muschamp would have taken UGA to the playoff in his 2nd year and won a natty in his 5th season? With what I saw at UF, hell no...the dude lost to Ga Southern and it took a late blocked punt return for a TD to beat some other ragtag team whose name is escaping me.

Kirby's teams know how to score in addition to playing top D....didn't they average over 30 a game this season? I highly doubt Muschamp ever did that.

It's not luck to be in the top 10 every year for 5 years, winning the East 4 of those 5, 2 playoffs and a natty.....face it guys...they struck gold with him....let's hope we did too with Napier

I like how are you attacked him on grammar, but misspelled a simple word like “activity“.
