I’m convinced there was serious internal conflict, maybe over the show cause penalty and/or something else, that soured the relationship. We may never really know exactly but the atmosphere went south in a hurry.

You're right, it doesn't. IMO, he never figured it out. While at Miss. St. Mullen's actions were enough to be better than their history and to make them happy. But at Florida he couldn't be consistantly superior and had several factors that made him appear "off".
IMO, it was the Bull Gators and their money that pushed our AD to do something that he was either still not seeing or just getting a grip and opinion on...he was in denial and his hand was forced.

I would not say this qualifies as an ad hominem. The poster retorted with a Zookism. I pointed out in an indirect way that his statement was a Zookism. He could have and did discuss it more. I could just said, that statement makes you sound like Zook, but to that is not as interesting a way to further the conversation.
