I think we have a decent year, but it wouldnt make me feel that CBN isnt the answer if we struggled. Again, I harken back to the bama transition year under Saban. Its not as if they didnt have good players, they did. Shula recruited well and they had a few decent seasons under him including a 10 win one the year before he was canned. Most of the kids that contributed significant minutes in Saban's 2nd year where they won the west and went undefeated regular season were on the roster when he showed up. However, Saban still lost 6 games including a home loss to a Louisiana team (either ULM or ULL?) his first year.

This is a major, MAJOR culture and program change, possibly bigger than anything ever, even what Spurrier did b/c the team was pretty stacked and doing decently but on probation when he showed up. What Napier walked in on and is attempting to do is about as close to a full blown resurrection as you will see outside of an Easter Sunday. For that reason the W/L record in year 1 isnt that important to me. The crootin, cultural transition, discipline and accountability, and commitment from the staff and the players is the most important thing IMO. If he gets everyone all in on all of that, the wins will come and they will be prevalent.

Again I see this as a Pell/SOS situation. Pell went 0-10-1...before he turned it around...UF's 1st SEC Tittle.

This will be very different. Billy ain't Urban or Pell...It won't be talent for talent's sake.

The first time I am really looking forward to it...Since 2009.

yeah, this is the first time im hopefully and almost excited for next season in over a decade. Last time i felt this way was tebow's senior year, 2009 season. Its been dread and despair ever since.

I might not measure next season in wins and losses.
1) How often did we have motion penalties?
2) Did we have celebration penalties that imperiled tight games?
3) Were there retaliatory unnecessary roughness penalties?
4) Did we keep playing hard even when the game was no longer in doubt, won or lost?
5) Were we playing better at the end of the season?
6) Were we tackling better?

Can someone explain to me why I’m seeing a bunch of gator fans excited about Javon Baker? He isn’t transferring from Bama to potentially UF because our passing game is better.

Don't overlook that these guys, this team is being changed from a CFB-collapsed culture to a culture where all believe in a "fighting Gators' fighting chance". Just by spirit elevation, I believe our guys will hit harder & wrap up better. Our QB will cause defenses to make crucial mistakes. Our RBs will slice up defenses due to the execution blocks by our inculcated OL. Advanced development across the board.
Never forget how confusing the coaching teaching our guys got, day in day out. Our boys were tasked with rejecting their lifelong football training and faking up Mullen-Grantham ball. It will be an instantly rewarding return to football as they joyfully had mastered over their young years.

I agree on Jones. Further, I believe that Napier can get away with doing almost anything next fall EXCEPT starting a QB other than Richardson. If I were the new UF coach, I would send Richardson out there in a wheelchair if I had to. If Richardson is not the answer, this fan base needs to see it with their own eyes.
Assuming he makes it to week 1 without an injury
