Last SEC meet of the season. UF can claim sole possession of the SEC title with a win, otherwise, they will share it with Auburn with a loss. Gotta tell ya, feels like the deck is stacked against the Gators here. The Suni Lee love-fest that is this season is in full effect, its senior night in Auburn and Auburn is the feel-good story of the year. They haven't beaten UF maybe once in the last 20 years. They will definitely have a rocking arena tonight.
If UF is rounding into post-season form, they should be able to take care of business. However, senior night always throws a wrench in judging. It would not be surprising to see multiple 10s thrown out for Auburn. This also could be one of the meets where UF could lose but still rise to #1 in the rankings with a strong 198 performance because it will raise their average score for the season. Hopefully the team just locks in and performs the way they have been. Go Gators!

Vault Trinity Thomas Florida 10.000
Balance Beam Sunisa Lee Auburn 10.000
Floor Exercise Gobourne Auburn 10.000
Floor Exercise Blakely Florida 10.000

and 2 more Auburn gymnasts scored 9.975’s on floor, which means one judge gave them each a 10 as well. So 4 Auburn gymnasts had perfect performances on floor in the eyes of at least one floor judge.

Auburn’s floor total of 49.800 gave them a tie the top floor score in the country this season, a spot held by … Florida.

The 198.575 scores attained by both teams are the highest meet totals of any team in the country, .650 higher than Auburn’s prior top score for the season (197.925) and .325 higher than Florida’s top season score of 198.250

I didn’t get to see the meet, but I suspect the home cooking for Auburn’s senior night drove up the scores for both teams, a common occurrence in collegiate gymnastics.

Strong meet for both teams. Definitely, some home cooking going on. Auburn floor set was not that clean particularly in the front of the lineup. But it was still a close meet. Massive road score for UF which may move them to 2? Still good to see the squad starting to peak as the postseason nears.

I was wondering how much home cooking was going on.

I haven’t bothered to figure out revised NQS scores to yield rankings, but the big score won’t help as much as folks may think. When calculating NQS scores, the highest score is thrown out, the top three road scores are taken, then the top 3 remaining scores are taken. Those six are averaged together to determine the NQS. So anything higher than Florida’s more than .05 over the previous high of 198.25 becomes somewhat academic.

I’m not saying it won’t keep us from moving up, but it won’t have a huge impact relative to the pack, either.

Actually the Gator's high score at Auburn did help a little because it was an away score and the highest score (which got dropped) leaving our high home scores counting in the NQS.
Florida's NQS. looks like 197.9702 .
NQS is determined by taking the top six scores, three of which must be away, dropping the highest and averaging the remaining five.
What f_cked-up system...

I thought the Gators 4 scores of 9.250 on Floor was kind of odd. :dunno:

I don’t recall ever seeing that before either, especially not 4 in a row.

Incidentally, one other school also tied the season high national score of 198.575 last night - Utah. If I did the math correctly (in my head, so doubtful), their NQS is 197.75, so they are just outside of the top 3. Amazing that less than one-tenth separates the first and third ranked teams. We’re less than “half a tenth” behind Oklahoma for the #1 spot.

Why do you sit the best gymnast we have in floor routine? LoserDan coaching, let’s sit the best players. Trinity was wiping the floor with Suni and our coach doesn’t want to have a head to head matchup for the overall. Awful. Home cooking wouldn’t have mattered, Trinity has about a 9.925 avg on floor.

The home cooking came mostly after that.

The previous seasons, the team has entered the postseason with tired legs and nagging injuries. Last year, she put trinity out on tone of he last SEC meets at Alabama which we didn't need, she sprained her ankle and was basically limited the post-season. This year with some extra depth, she seems like she is trying to keep them rested.

CU-UF, that is good. To get beat because their bodies are subpar must frustrate them immensely.
Here's hoping they stick all landings.

Cmon you really believe this resting nonsense? How many times during the week you think Trinity practices all her routines and 1 more floor exercise is giving her “rest”, absolute hogwash. The girls need competition under pressure to learn how to win. Nothing compares to when the scores count. Coach tried to manipulate a weaker lineup and it cost them and mostly Trinity, she would’ve won the overall easily over Suni. How about giving Trinity a chance to beat the gold medal winner on her home floor? You don’t think that would give Trinity and the whole team a huge amount of confidence heading into championship season? Nah…let’s rest em, that gives em more confidence.

Yes, it does make a difference. If she is not in the line-up for that weekend that means the week of practice she is not doing hard landings and is tumbling either on tumbletrak or into the pit. So yes, resting for the week does make a difference.

Trinity as a senior with the national team and representing the US internationally has nothing to prove nor lacks confidence on this stage. And trust me, gymnasts don't have that mindset that you might see in bball or football of "beating" another gymnast on their home floor. They are competing against themselves. Most of these girls are best friends and came up together

I was pretty close....... I didn't know that if your highest scores were Away scores that they would be used. I only saw where 3 scores had to be Away scores but all 6 scores could be Away scores if they were higher.

1. Oklahoma 198.080
2. Florida 197.970
3. Michigan 197.950
4. Utah 197.750
5. Alabama 197.650
5. Auburn 197.650

LSU #7
Kentucky #9
5 of the top 10 are SEC and Missouri is #11
