It was originally developed for heart related chest pain and was discovered to be an effective blood thinner. The side effects of course became the most profitable use.
For several weeks before he died, my dad was in a coma and by his request, after all options had been exhausted, he was unplugged from all but the feeding tube and pain killers and some other medication. As we knew he wouldn’t last the night, his children were all gathered around him to be there for the end. When the attending nurse mentioned one of the drugs he was on was viagra, my sisters started to freak out until I told them it was also a very effective blood thinner. A few jokes popped in my head at that moment, but they all seemed wildly inappropriate.

Had a small MinPin dog that had congestive heart deterioration. Vet prescribed liquid viagra. One local pharmacy had to compound it for the Pin's small size. The drug, per the vet, would allow her to outlive death estimates. She outlived the vet. Yes, it was expensive. I still miss that dog.

Thank you! Having zero medical training, I had no idea what a vasodilator is and had to look it up. So if I understand correctly, Viagra does not thin one’s blood, rather it dilates the vessels and lowers the pressure on the heart?
Once again, GCMB has improved my general knowledge!

First off, I'll start off by saying I know nothing. Nada, zip, zero. However, I did see an article yesterday with the headline that he's now accused of sexual battery. That's a step or two above assault I believe. Not good. Hope it's all a lie.

Yep, you got it. The physiology of boners is basically more blood pumps in than flows out. Sexual stimuli like seeing a hot babe, or for some apparently signing a 5 star recruit, causes dilation of the afferent vessels and constriction of the efferent vessels leading to boi-oi-oing. Injury to the peripheral nerves which are part of the autonomic nervous system that controls the constriction and hence the pooling of blood in the corpus cavernosum (boner tubes) from conditions such as diabetes or hypertension, or even just normal aging can lead to the medical condition known as limpdick.
