I believe that the overall talent level is probably somewhere in the mid-league range. Although certainly not championship quality, the cupboard isn't totally bare either. It will, however, obviously take a while to undo the schytt show Dooshly Dan left us with and anyone expecting first year miracles is likely to be disappointed. But I absolutely have more confidence in CBN than in any local sports talker guy when it comes to choosing a starting RB - or anything else for that matter. I just hope to see some effort and coaching on display tonight, regardless of who starts where. This is the beginning of a new era and for that I am truly grateful.

But there is an energy at UF we haven't seen in a while, so try to enjoy.

... and try to contribute in an elevating fashion. Does anyone believe this collected staff is just watching & letting failure endure.?
Perhaps Shane did not receive the celebrity treatment he expected that would avail him the harvest of info he wanted to help his podcasts.?

I think those years in San Quentin really warped Shane. For starters. I’m not sure doing a work release project along 2nd Ave, while a scrimmage is going on, should necessarily be considered “attending”. But that aside, as others have pointed out, he hated Meyer, loved WM, and has been wrong on just about everything else since then.

And also, NOLA, if you’re insisting on posting a gif in this thread, there’s really only one that truly fits.

This. The dude rode the muschamp ship to the very end. Said things like he was " snake bit" and had "bad luck".

When you spend all day playing dominoes with guys that say the streets are too tough and they never had a chance, you start adopting that mindset.

I would say you're hitting the point there. And might certainly not get it either.

I now expect a 2-win season. When Mathews speaks, I perk up and listen.

None of us have the slightest idea what to expect from this particular team. I remember thinking Cam Newton was absolutely awful when he scrimmaged.
Newton was terrible in the O&B game. Underthrew a bunch. He straightened that out with his computer throw. I guess a light went off. (Blue lights)

IMO, I think Nap gives us a good chance at regenerating "the fighting Gators" - so expect an upset or two.?

Honestly think we have a better staff now. He definitely wins some of the debacles that Mullen lost.

Coach has said the same thing in a pressers recently about lack of depth across the board and needing to be aggressive in the portal, but he said it in a much nicer way than Shane. We've been complaining about it for the last 8 years across multiple coaching staffs. Our recruiting has sucked, especially in the trenches, for a while and we are coming off a sub .500 season. We got Hev specials blocking, muLLLLLLen receivers who are better at blocking than route running and beyond Dexter, a weak DL. And there have been plenty of practice reports talking about Johnson running people over.

Im not a fan of Shane these days but I dont think he is saying anything very controversial, just seems like he is saying it in a controversial way.

The Gators Breakdown crew have gone over this time and time again. UF's talent level sits right around the bottom of the top 10. Not championship level, but they don't suck. I've actually watched Shane's podcast a time or two. IMO, IT sucks not the Gator football team. They just need to fix the discipline issues and learn the new playbooks of the new staff and should be good, but not great until year 2-3 once coach Napier raises the overall talent level to where it needs to be.
