Miller looked as expected, average. He received a lot of good reports pre scrimmages. Since the first scrimmage, no one spoke of him as competition for AR. Unfortunately, Miller isn’t getting pushed either. He is way ahead of CDR. I did like the fact that Miller’s head was moving. So, there’s room to grow. Our backup situation is better than last season.

Weston looks fast. I hope he is finally putting things together because he is really the only receiver with elite speed.

Considering he hasn’t played tight end since high school, I thought Zanders played well. I’m not saying he is good. Maybe by fall he develops into something serviceable.

Black looked insanely fast and athletic.
Keeter had some nice catches

Replay at 11AM this morning on SECn. (The 4:30AM replay is on now.) If you can record it then access your DVR remotely you could watch with you dad.

I don’t know if/how one could stream it on demand. Highlights and Mick’s audio are here:

Florida Spring Game

And that’s where I’d look to see if the full game video gets posted. ESPN/SECn made it a little hard to find and don’t show the replay that’s noted above. I hope you can get it.
Got it, thanks! DVRed it and yes can access it remotely via my phone and stream it to my Dad's TV, which he thinks is the miracle of the ages lol

The full spring game is also on YouTube if you want to watch it. I don't know how long that will last.

Definitely didn’t have a traditional Spring game feel to it. Traffic was close to game day levels, crowds everywhere, lots of energy. So I think the move paid off, though I still think Saturday would’ve been even better.

On the game, I’m not always the best eyes, but this didn’t look like a 1-2 then drop off at QB. I have no idea what’s gone on in these practices or what these analysts have seen, but it’s clearly AR, then a substantial drop, then the drop off. I’m happy to have Miller and one game doesn’t tell a whole story, but he’s not even close right now. Lingard is also a clear number 1 to me, though Johnson and Bowman looked solid. I feel like Henderson still gets lost in the game. Wouldn’t have expected a player like Fraziers to have more catches than him. Zanders too. We need him t in step forward this year and become a threat.

Perimeter defense was flying around and there weren’t many coverage busts, which was nice to see. The kid Young really stood out. McMillon as well. The Fr McClellan is bigger than I expected him to be. I think teams will run against us better than we want, but we’ll have a return to normal in the secondary with breakups and Ints.

Players were at least in position to make plays. Such a contrast from the past two seasons. Several on the Orange team were pissed during the game for plays they gave up—Dean and Dexter specifically. You can tell they’re not content with being a bad defense, which is nice to see.

Graham and Weston both looked good returning kicks. What I didn’t like was seeing Henderson back on punts, and then even worse, Marshall.

All in all, I felt it was a good experience.

yeah. Henderson is really disappointing. What really stood out to me was the lack of speed at WR. I’m not sure if this was noticeable on TV, but live, Weston looked really fast on his kick return. He seemed to be the fastest WR hands down to me.

Did Burke play? I don’t remember seeing him at all.

Also a couple standouts on D - Summerall played out of his mind. He looked liked the biggest fastest defender. McMillion is really talented. Looked like the best safety IMO.

CB is harder. I couldn’t really see from my vantage. They blanketed receivers for sure. But like I said earlier, other than Weston, there is no speed at WR.

Bowman needs to continue to get reps. He sometimes bounces too much. He’s tough as nails but if he limited his bouncing around I think he’d have some big runs. He is not very big.

Johnson and Lingard are SEC starters. We may have the best stable of RBs in the country.

Big Dez better lose weight. He looked like he was about to have a heart attack.

I was listening on the radio, and they said he was still listed over 400lbs. Has this guy not lost any weight since he got to school?

Overall, saw a lot of good things while obviously room for much improvement.

No real glaring short-comings (except the depth) but the Coaches keep everything very bland.

I still feel positive about the direction the team is moving. Not ready to predict our record but cautiously optimistic that we won't be cellar dwellers in the East.

Any team that is short on depth will live and die with injuries to key players. We need to stay healthy and play to our strengths.

I don't think the portal is the fix-all but a few more serviceable bodies would be nice.

Thursday games still feel strange to me.

Go Gators!

I watched him for a several plays and he looked gassed quite a bit. He played a fair amount and I was wondering if it was an effort by the coaches to demonstrate to him why he needs to drop a few lbs.

On a positive note, he usually occupied two guys and was tough to push around. It was amusing to me to see how he makes Dexter look average sized. Not many folks can do that.

What I like about McMillion is he’s always around the ball and always seems to be having a blast. Not that the latter makes you a better player, but he’s very confident yet isn’t overly cocky. Met him last year and he was maybe the nicest kid I’ve ever met at UF. I’d love him to be great here.

Also thought McDaniel looked pretty good. The S position has a lot of capable bodies. Hopefully a star emerges.

And someone mentioned CDRW being fast at the QB spot. Unfortunately, we have AR, a transfer and then two Mullen type QBs. I don’t think he looked great but if AR were to go down, I’m not sure he wouldn’t be the better option than Miller, simply because of his athleticism. I don’t want to go that direction on offense, but it’s the hand we’ve been dealt. We really needed a top flight QB in this last class.

I was impressed with Carlos as well...but then he threw that screen to the RB that hit the ground 3 feet short.

No mention of Nayquan Wright, who was supposed to be RB1 I thought. Injured? Transfer?

Forgot to add this. Between the lack of reps, clear focus elsewhere, and his body language on the screen when he received his spring award, I’d say he’s gone.

It was like the defense was called off.?
Will their deficit be corrected by the season's start.?
I think the offense will be our saving grace because those guys will develop. AR will dominate.
That’s because the defense was called off, handcuffed for sure even defensive coordinator made comments before game about not being able to call blitzes and a few other things.

I’ve said it since the beginning. I think he’s a lot like Toney. We need a slot receiver. He should get a shot there.

Maybe, but I’d almost see Graham there over him, no? Again, I’m not always great at these things, but he or Bowman seem like they fit that role better.

NW was one of my favorites. I think he just got passed by, and the last staff did him no favors. He probably should’ve had many of Davis’ carries but was probably constantly told next year would be his turn due to seniority, which is obviously out the window now. His face looked dejected last night which I hated to see.

AR got rid of the ball 10x faster than EJ. AND with way more zip on the ball. Very refreshing to see.

Lingard, Bowman and Johnson make a great Top 3 at RB and I didn’t see ETN out there (hopefully he’s ready to be “next man up” if injuries hit).

Scooby Williams looked good out there. Several other defenders stepped up, most have already been mentioned here.

Also some new faces on O who show promise like TE Zanders. Reasons for optimism.

It’s the O&B game, so it was fun but not a true litmus test. Not panicking, but not predicting 15-0 either. I just want to see fun, disciplined football while CBN rebuilds.

I think Fenley should be a return specialist.
