these were (are?) nasty...

If you ever followed Bill Simmons on ESPN before the crappy era, he would hold his annual NFL style Candy Draft.
Necco's were always a very late rounder if not Mr. Irrelevant.

'Peeps' never even got a practice squad look...

I’ve never had a Necco but I suspect Tums tastes better than those.
Always a let down if this was what parents/grandparents brought you back from a trip. Kinda like thin, hard Tumms, only chalkier. Maybe if Milk of Magnesia made tablets.

I’ll go for a “hot take”. Not the worst, but skittles suck.

They make me so thirsty, and give you the kind of spit, that when you were a kid you could basically drool to the floor than suck it back up.

A good way to torment a younger brother though.

It's hard to beat circus peanuts.

For Jelly Beans, that buttered popcorn flavor is the worst to me.

For Halloween, those individually wrapped candy in a black wrapper or orange wrapper was the worst. I honestly dont even know what it was.

Winner of the contest for me. Not only were they disgusting, pieces of the paper wrapper inevitably stuck to them, so you got paper along with the candy. The older they were the worse they got.
Circus peanuts a close second.

Originals were pretty good, though you are correct about the strange sugary aftertaste/texture dilemma. But I don’t think the new flavors are as good, and they’re a prime example of green becoming green apple.

Also, maybe not the worst, but be honest. As a kid, how much respect did you immediately lose for anyone eating or offering you some of these? It just felt like the trash version of several candies compiled into one.

I loved Sprees.
Add it to my list of disappointments.

especially the berry flavors...

I actually think the berry version of Pepcid AC rivals that of most candies today, while providing gastrointestinal relief.

Back to the worst candy...

Let's not forget that coagulated, congealed, possibly petrified mess of a candy dish at Grandma's house:

Some of these had a soft center. Quite a concept at the time.

Peeps are the all time worst candy for me. Thankfully they are only around for a couple of months during the Easter season.

I want to know what goes on in those Cadbury Creme Egg marketing meetings each year. I get the whole bunny/lion thing. But this has to be the biggest mail-in job in advertising history.
