Well, if he's doped they'll nail him and disqualify him in the coming days. Don't hold your breath.

No doubt. I'm not holding my breath. If he was doped, he was doped. Part of the reason for his ability to close could have been what I believe was the fastest quarter mile in Derby history 21.78. So, you've got tired horses in the stretch. The other horses were suckered into the initial pace. Rich Strike was not.

By the way I had a horse who wouldn't take a bit only a hackamore. That's the first bad sign. After a gallop, not a long one, he was a handful. Mrs '46 and I both liked a challenging horse. But after any gallop he was a real ass to other horses and he was a 7 year old not a three year old. She was a fantastic rider. I was decent. It took a good rider to handle that guy. We road him bareback some. I ended up on the ground more than a few times. She never did.

That horse is still out there trying to dominate any horse he sees. This is a good lesson for young men in the business world. It's not good enough to just win the deal. The celebration at the bar afterward has to involve continuing to assert your Alpha dominance over others whether they be women or men.

On a side note, I once saw a horse jump the rail at Keenland and go right into the grandstands. At first, I was terrified watching this take place as everyone scrambled to get away from the raging, out-of-control animal. Then it just became a macabre desire to see someone with a stupid hat or a stupid drink get trampled. They finally got it under control when he hopped back out onto the track.

I prefer to convince them that they won too (even though they didn't). Pays off in the long run. Unless of course they pissed me off before the win. In which case the message is don't try to screw me again.

Interesting direction this thread took since I last dropped in. Haters, narcissists and misogynists, and we aren’t even talking about people.

That horse is an ornery bad-ass. Did you see the way he was looking at other horses during the race? Like, "I'm coming for your ass next."

I'd be surprised if he didn't make some more noise in the Preakness.

Oh, I saw the same thing. I recorded it but didn’t get around to watching until today. Avoided all tv that had anything to do with it. As they showed the replay I paused it multiple times to show the wife and MIL how much that horse looked right, at the leaders down the stretch, and said I’m coming for your ass.

Oh that is fkkn awesome. I love the nonchalant attitude of the jockey. Yeah that's right, at this stage, I'm just allowing him to bite anything he wants. He just pushed through the pack and won the fkkn Kentucky Derby. If he feels he needs to bite a human leg, so be it.

HOW DID HE EVEN GET IN THE RACE?
Good luck for him, bad luck for another.

The Kentucky Derby can’t have more than 20 horses in the field. Rich Strike was 21st on the list. If one of the 20 horses that qualified didn’t scratch (the racing word for withdraw) from the race before 9 a.m. Friday, Rich Strike’s Derby plan would have ended.

At 8:45 a.m. Friday, the call came: No scratches. Reed texted his father: “Didn’t happen.” The security guard working the barn and protecting Rich Strike was sent home. Plans were being made to run Rich Strike in a race this week in New York instead.

Around that time, the connections for Ethereal Road — trained by D. Wayne Lukas — told Derby officials that they were pulling out of the race. Reed got another call at 8:55 telling him not to move the horse, then another call a minute or two later with the official word.

They were in.

“What just happened?” Reed asked.

Turns out, history was starting to happen.

"The Kentucky Horse Racing Commission (KHRC) has received laboratory results from post-race samples taken on May 6, and May 7, 2022 at Churchill Downs," the commission's statement said. "All samples for both days were cleared. This includes the post-race samples from The Kentucky Oaks and The Kentucky Derby."

A good friend who grew up in the horse racing business in Ocala told me this morning that based on the horse's behaviour after the race, he would be surprised if the horse passed the drug test.
Tell your friend he's a clueless dork.

You are the clueless dolt and completely ignorant about who he is, what he knows and about his experience with horses and horse racing.

Why do you want to pick a fight? Maybe you should go back and read that book about how to be a good moderator or the one about how to be a decent human being.

Well at 4.50 a gallon for gas and inflation at 9% I believe a lot of folks are stressed out. So cut him a break. Let's try to be nicer.....
