Emotional distress? How about losing Friday night, being made to log roll down the field and back (often through other people's puke) on Monday, and when you start puking in response having the coach down on all fours asking you if you were finished? Asking for a friend.

I think being on a TV show is the best place for him. If he would be popular enough to stay is another story.

Spurrier was legendary, but Urbs could have come from behind on Nebraska.
On the surface, I disagree with this premise.

On review, I disagree with this premise. See, the coach doesn't play and two factors played heavily on how the actual players responded that night.
First, it was 24 degrees that evening. I don't know where you're from or if you've ever played football in that cold of weather but for a Florida boy, that schitt sucks!
Secondly, do you remember how UF faired vs Ga. Southern? We lost. I'm not saying Ga. Southern and Nebraska run the same offense. They don't. But teams that run the I-formation or the triple option do so repetitively and have typically done so for decades. That's usually all they know and can run it in their sleep. Florida had been running the FunNGun for 5.
Add to the fact that Nebraska was yuge! So the 2nd part is that Nebraska ran a system that their boys knew like the back of their hand and we're literally bred to run.
Add in to the mix a 24 degree evening and you could see that UF quit.
And just know that when Florida got up on them with 10-6 early, Nebraska was unfazed and came back to take a small lead into the half. Florida gave them their best and they took it. Easily.
When Nebraska came out in the 2nd half, they started the buzz saw and our boys couldn't do a damn thing to slow em down. Not that night. Urban would have faired no better.

Unlike most on the board I give Urbs some slack because he got us two nattys which is really hard to do. What's even harder is to win a natty with two different teams. Was he lousy NFL coach? No doubt. Evidence is clear that it is a hard transition to make as most that have tried has shown. Will I listen to his TV time as an analyst. Nope. Don't care either. But he isn't the only NFL coach that was lousy and had a bad temperment for it. That's a long roll call for that class.

In any event I won't be giving him much thought unless I glance up at my den memoralbilia on my wall that reminds me of glory days past.

Auggie,

I was there for the Fiesta fiasco and it was awful however, the temperature was nowhere near 24 degrees. It was in the 70’s that evening.

There were a lot of reasons why UF lost that night but weather was not one of them.

Were you drunk, then, too?

CONDITIONS AT KICKOFF
Temperature: 58 degrees.
Wind: North, 7 mph. Skies: Clear.

It was a 7:30pm game and temps plummeted. It may not have been exactly 24 but it was freakin cold.

Also, I think I'm lysdexic so perhaps it was 42.

but ain't no way it was in the 07's.

I also was at the Fiesta Bowl. 24 degrees? :lmao:

:lmao:It was Phoenix. It does not get into the 20's at night in Phoenix even in the winter. The reason Nebraska won by a zillion was they were so much better than UF. They were incredibly more physical, much more strong and an all around better team than what UF put out there. It was the quintessential tough, physical and disciplined will almost always beat speed and finesse in football.

Very true. That '95 team is consistently listed in the top 3 of "best ever - all time teams". And they were great on both sides of the ball.
