Physical (Apple +) - Another show marketed as a 'dark comedy". Rose Byrne is smoking hot, but no boobs (at least from her). She has a hippy husband running for office, but is becoming enamored with the Regan shopping mall capitalist dream and becomes a work out instructor. If they had just stopped here with the story it would be compelling. Of course they had to up themselves and give her an eating disorder, make everyone horrible people and put in a lot of WTF sexual moments. Finished the season and might watch part 2 if my trial hasn't run out, but not special.

Ozarks (Netflix) - I am pissed by the ending of this series. All I'm gonna say.

Barry (HBO Max) - hitman goes to LA and decides to try and leave that life behind and become an actor. Stars Bill Hader, The Fonz and the stapler guy from Office Space. Binged the first two seasons since the 3rd just started and was hooked. Nice blend of comedy and a few of the supporting characters are hilarious, such as Hank who works for the Czechia mob. Third season is only two episodes in and a little weird so far, but this show is worth watching.

Has anyone watched The Thing About Pam, based on a true story? It has Renee Zellwegger in a fat suit. First episode is intriguing enough to keep watching. It’s similar to episodes of a dataline nbc murder who done it show.

We tried to watch it but hasn’t been must watch. Not saying we wouldn’t go back but have had other things we would rather watch. I just cheated and looked it up on Wikipedia. It’s an intriguing concept though. Doing a dateline episode with actual actors. I think they have something there with some tweaking of the concept.

I wouldn’t watch anything she’s in without a gun to my head.

Moon Knight (2022) <Disney+>

Self admitted Marvel fanboy.....Watched Moon Knight on Disney+ (no, haven't dropped it yet). Never knew much about the main character other than he was suffering from multiple personalities, some of which could access this magical suit of invulnerability as provided by some small Egyptian god, Konshu in order to wreak vengance on those who do evil. Meh...not a lot to run with. It is a limited series, so I'm not expecting a lot of episodes. To date, only e1-e5 have been made available.

<snip>

I'll finish it out, just because I've always been a 'finish it' kinda guy, even on things I should quit - I'll let you know later if there is a payoff and what it's worth, but for now, don't bother, let me suffer through on my own.

Ep 6 dropped, finale to s1. Brought a season ending worthy clash of Ammit-Konshu and Hawke-MoonKnight, gave an okay boost to Marc Specter's wife, and gave a tidy closing to the season. Semi-spoiler: Final scene reveals the third personality, Jake Locksley, after a few hints were dropped in ep5-6 (Marc/Steven emerge from blackouts to find themselves in scenes of total destruction and neither of them remember causing it). Also gives a very nice tidy bow on Ammit-Hawke in the final scene. No idea where it goes for s2, but they left more than enough material to produce one if they so choose. Ending had it's own share of wtf + great_visuals + Egyptian_lore + more_wtf, and was not enough to make this worth recommending unless you wish to challenge your sanity and ability to follow along.

Agree. I’ve always though she was hideous. So even under your proposed circumstances, caliber of bullet, marksmanship and other factors would still need to be weighed before committing.

The Pentaverate (Netflix) - The Mike Myers comedy on Netflix. Also has Debbie Mazar who I haven't seen in forever and a few other comedians that whore themselves out to anything to stay relevant. Only six episodes and decided to check it out since he set off so many woke critics into a frenzy. It is about a retirement age Canadian newscaster that needs to break a big story to keep his job. He teams up with a MAGA conspiracy theorist to infiltrate a secret society that has helped to shape the world for generations. While it tries to hit the tin foil hat people the hardest it actually only grazes them while accidentally slapping the woke even harder. It has his usual style of comedy, some of which can be outdated, he plays most of the characters. While there are many eh moments there are also a few big laughs as well and it drags until explaining the real plot until the last episode. Instead of 6 25 minute episodes they could have cut it down to a 1.5 hour movie.

Basically it revolves around the internet making every stupid and really hit hard on the cell phone generation their need to listen to influences for their news and decision making. Basically they will believe and give you anything if asked for on the internet. The messaging is a little confusing. The messaging to the MAGA group was even if conspiracy are true you should still just shut up and fall in line because the "experts" know better. 5/10. They hit both sides evenly and the work tears helped the score.

We never watched any of the True Detective (HBO) shows when they came out. We watched season 1 last week and it was pretty good, a solid 9 out of 10. We read that season 2 wasn't very good, so we started Season 3 last night (episode 1). Seems like a similar set up as season 1, but was pretty good too.

Agree w/ you on the ending of Ozark. Thumbs down. They could have easily set this up for a spin-off, similar to how Breaking Bad spun off Saul.

The Boys Season 3 Ep1-3 dropped. Very graphic. They turned it up a notch I guess to match the comics. I couldn't even watch a few scenes especially the opening. Really gross stuff.

The scene when the Deep is forced to eat his friend Tim the octopus is one of the grossest things I've seen on TV but about 10th on the list for The Boys.

Honestly, it really felt like the whole second half of this season was hijacked from Jason Bateman by the PC/Woke crowd. All the men in the series ended up looking lost and they made all the women the tough and smart ones. The way it ended was almost comically predictable as they quickly, but sloppily, tied up loose ends like Ruthie. Very disappointing end to an otherwise great series IMO.

I was able to catch up with the end of Ozark. I get the criticism by some, but the way I see it the series was very much loved and any ending is going to be disappointing. That said, I'm ok with how they closed it out.

Ruthie, perhaps the heart of the show that fans connected with, was foreshadowed with that 'family' reunion occurring outside the trailer towards the end. She seemed only truly happy when she was with that crowd, and the very best attempt to change her life was getting trashed, and not by her but by Marty & Crew. There was no closure or even directional indication on what happens between the Cartel and the FBI, which is fine because they weren't the core of the program, they just moved the plot along while we focused on our characters. Other than Ruth, Bateman was the center of the show from the get go, as he tap danced his way around death from the opening episodes of the series. Yes, he seemed to get weak at the end, but to me it was getting burned out on all of it, especially his wife's rise to power and taking decisions (some good, many bad). One can complain about the 'woman power' of that shift, but it is also her character (personality) coming thru - recall, she had a lover in S1 that showed she had no care for husband or family, and towards the end all she wanted was the power of her foundation. She showed some heart, as it relates to a mother and her children, but even that was undercut by how she treated her brother and dad, and her kids were more of a possession (stay with me, so I feel that I'm doing the right things) than actual care for them. The kids disappointed me, in the choices they made at the end, but I'm letting that go rather than concern myself over any of it. Bateman himself, he just seemed exhausted, ready to be out any way he can, and the chance to leave the Cartel is somewhat replaced (in my interpretation) by being a prisoner to his wife's ambitions. I feel for him, a bit, but overall I come away not wishing for something different on any given character.

We all loved Ruth, and she probably could have had a great spin off, but I'm good with the series coming to an end, and how they wrapped up each character, including Ruth.
