I have a black polo with one on the chest pocket area. And one of my cycling jerseys is a bright yellow gadsden flag design. I get a lot of looks when I zip by in that thing.
I have that same jersey. Get honks all the time when I wear it.

Well, since ya had to replace part of the engine, the car is no longer stock, so I say just go ahead and Gator the hell out of it. You know, Orange and Blue colors with Gator logos in strategically tasteful locations. I bet nobody else in your town has a Gator 'Vette!

Been painting like a mad fool with a black theme for the engine parts.

The magnesium valve covers were a pitted, peeling mess - I had to strip them. I needed a finish that would hide the pitting better, so I went with a wrinkle finish. I'm pretty happy with how they turned out.

I'm also happy to report that the used aluminum replacement heads I bought are in good shape - the machine shop confirmed it. Should have them back next week.

Now that you're getting close to putting it back together, think about using some braided hoses and specific chromed accessories as you put it back together. Not real expensive in the big picture but really set off the engine compartment, especially after you've been so meticulous with cleaning this peridontal infection up. Also, when you get it back on the road, go to your local service center and have them flush out the differential fluid and have them replace it with a synthetic fluid. Something no one ever does and will add a lot of life to that drive train component. Looking great man.
By the way, if you don't mind me being nosey, what did the used heads set you back? Are they aluminum (iron are also available ) and how much for the grinding? I'm assuming you had a 3 way grind.

You trying for a vacay?

I could use one . I've never seen someone so hellbent to keep a Corvette stock....I mean the worst part of doing internal mods is tearing everything apart to get to where you need to be to change the sh!t out.....This SOB is already there. Would it really hurt to put a hotter cam in and port the heads while they're already at the machine shop?? He reminds me of the hard headed old men I used to sell boats to years ago. They would always buy the boat with the smallest motor you could put on it, then come back in and cuss me out because their new boat was too slow!!! I'm trying to save him from getting rebuilders remorse....

I know you have unlimited funds, but I had a budget and I've already blown it sky-high out of the water. This car needed faaaaar more than I was expecting when I bought it. I have a family to answer to. If you'd like to shoot me over another couple of thousand I can pump it up closer to your specifications. As you know, it's not just a hotter cam and some port work - when you starting doing that you have to keep upgrading this and changing that to handle the extra power and I'm not getting even deeper into this sucker. That's also money I would never get back out of the car.

This is a car I'm probably only going to have a few years and then sell it for a new project so I'm not looking to go nuts on it. In the meantime, it will go 0-60 in the low 5 second range and that's going to do me just fine.
