This woman at my work has this same corvette. It's red, black convertible top and has a plate on it that says LV2DIVE. However the rims are these large silver disc things. Only has 56k miles on it as she had it while in Hawaii.

Oh, and she's 68 years old.

Have you thought about replacing the rear view mirror?

Those are my favorite body style Vette's, and since I really don't like Vette's, that says a lot.

Car looks great btw. I think you've done an outstanding job, Your now my new favorite Vette restorer.

I have replaced the rear view mirror since that photo. I have been driving the car every night at sunset and enjoying it immensely.

45 MPH?!?! Come on, Alice. Punch it! Do you drive with the left blinker on all the time too?

BTW, real nice job on the car.

Oh, I did my share of punching it. Just not when I'm trying to snap a picture. You trying to get me killed? Is this your way of getting me out of the way so you can take over the GCMB?

You should probably make Nav the designated back up so he can clear the cache when you die in your vette.

I read on Gatorchatter that a 45 year old Ox died in a vette cache near Lake Alice.

Horrific really.

Just a few tips..... If you haven't already done so get a new balancer.... NOW Slipped ring means it's on the way out, It has a bit of a bevel to it so won't go forward but will go back and eat the timing cover real fast. Not only that but the harmonics can wreak havoc with the crank and timing chain, Hence why it's called a harmonic balancer. What it really does is absorb some of the twist forces the crank sees when a cylinder fires. If you can catch a super slow mo video of an engine running the amount of twist will open your eyes, Esp. on a big diesel.

Once that's covered you can ease the base timing up about 4* over stock, IIRC that was 0 or 4 btc with timing connector unhooked (brown wire with black stripe in the area of brake booster), If it pings too much ease off.

I liked to put the TPS at idle just a bit over .5 volts, usually around .55v, Much more and it'll idle real high (ECM thinks you're on the gas).

Use a 180 degree thermostat, It'll still allow the engine to stay at operating temp, 160 is too cold and may trick ECM into running too rich mixture.

Bet the cooling fan "On" temp scared you, Some are around 236 when fan kicks on.

Sometimes they'll have a bit of a "dead" spot when opening throttle, If so see if EGR valve is opening as soon as you press throttle, There's a delay valve you can put between EGR solenoid and valve to slow the opening rate, But it may ping a bit more.

You should see 250+ horses easily.... The basic Goodwrench 350 makes 240

When you replace the diff fluid make damn sure you put the limited slip additive in it, Then run a few figure 8's to work fluid into the clutch packs.... But you probably already know that.

Whatever you do..... DO NOT leave a socket on top of intake then slam the hood. It'll pop right through. (I didn't do that but body shop mgr did)

Have fun

The "45" wasn't a guess at your age.

It came, like all the words in that sentence, from a few of the previous posts as a summary of information.

My stepdaughter had a baby at 18, giving me a stepgrandson at age 38. Far from ideal, but he's been a blessing and being around him since his birth has made me a better man. I have no children of my own.

***OFFSEASON SPECIAL!*** In the sports forum for a limited time! Enjoy!

For those few twerps who don't know, I recently bought a 1989 Corvette convertible that needed a pretty good amount of TLC. That was pretty much the point - I wanted something I could fiddle around with in my garage.

After 29 pages of posts, this is what I have to offer on the topic:

I thought that was what your wanky was for? That is all!
