Lets not overreact here. The situation is that we are taking 2 QBs and the next one will probably be a 4* guy. This is a guy who the staff had a FNL and they liked him. He looked good and they decided to give him an offer because they have room and because a 2* QB recruit will not scare away the big fish they are trying to land. The big name guys are still waiting to make their decisions. A lot may depend on how the offense looks this year.

I get why people are upset signing a 2* backup. We don't want the starter at QB. He is 5'7 and would not succeed as a QB in college. This kid may be better than a 2*, probably more realistically a 3* and grabbing a 3* as a future backup to build depth isn't a horrible idea. The staff wouldn't have given him an offer if they didn't think he had skills and could be coached into somebody they can use. Think about how bad our QB play as been lately. We are taking 2 in this class and already have a stud coming in 2017. Depth is key.

Never seen Marianna get so butthurt. Here I made his thread a sticky and get the finger for it. Like so many others, he needs lessons in how to construct the most attention-grabbing thread title.

What "big name" guys are still waiting to make their decision? Dillon Sterling-Cole is the only one left that I know of, and he's the quarterback out of Texas that UF was hoping for, not this guy. UF says they are taking two quarterbacks in this class, but they also wanted to take one last year, including trying to flip another two star, Jakobi Meyers from N.C. State, how did that work out? It's a distinct possibility that UF took this guy because this is the best they can get. UF is running around like a chicken with it's head cut off trying to get other quarterbacks to flip, but what if the results are the same as last year?
You can spin this all you want, but this is not a good sign. FNL produced zero consensus blue chip recruits, four or five star guys. If you're excited about that, it shows that your standards have been lowered considerably.

After watching a walkon LB back peddle 30 yds to avoid a tackle against Ga southern Mushbrain stood at the podium on signing day and said after missing on his top two LB he couldn't find onel in the whole dam country that he liked . Would you guys like Mac to treat our current QB situation the same way?

No current committments really mean a whole lot. There are rumors that Franks may flip to us, but all these guys are waiting to see what hte product on the field looks like. It is nothing for a guy to decommit right now and commit to a new school. Don't put too much stock into any commitments yet. If McElwain puts together a decent offense then we will get somebody.

Yeah, one of those I heard from a source who heard from a source who talked to Franks while he was in a boot type of things... My point is really that if the product on the field is good somebody will flip.

Momma can get to Hogtown in 90 minutes. Redstick is 6 hours from Medart at least.

Not sure if this has been posted in the thread, but here are the highlights. I'm just sharing these... I don't put a lot of stock in HS highlights because a lot of time the guys are playing against such inferior competition it is hard to really get a feel. With this guy.. you have to figure he is in the game when it is garbage time so he is playing against worse teams. I think I read somewhere he had 6 TDs and 0 INTs... so at least he isn't throwing really bad balls...

I don't get the feeling he has a really strong arm, but he does look very accurate and obviously he is a big kid.

I trust JMac's QB evaluation a lot more than any coach we've had around here for the last 4 years or so...

Maybe he's just that good at holding a clipboard, we just had to have him hold clipboards for us?

So was Morningwood.

Morningwood left a serious hole on the bench when he transferred. Don't forget that fact.

Law98gator;n252160 said:
False. Morningwood was a 3 star.

Dang it. We're downgradingf at our clipboard position? Have we no depth there? Fire JMac and see if we can find another inept DC to practice his head choking, ... er, head coaching...at UF.
