Yes, we've had some amazing QB's who were Preacher's sons.

1) SOS : First ever Heisman winner for UF. National champion coach

2) Danny: Heisman Trophy winner and National champion

3) Tebow: Heisman Trophy winner, two time national champion, Superman wore Tim Tebow pajamas.

4) * Cam Newton: Signed with Florida, got in trouble. Eventual Heisman Trophy winner and National champion while wearing the wrong shade of orange and blue at Auburn
So, let me ask you, out of all the preacher's kids in the US, what percentage went on to become Heisman QBs?

I'm still shocked at this and those trying to defend it. We just signed a 2 star kid who hasn't played since Junior High. Maybe. I guess I'm assuming he was good enough to start in JH/MS.

He's just one kid. I'm not overly concerned one way or the other. Is this just how we are now, so anal about everything? We determined early on that none of us knows for sure about him.

Every coach makes a bad recruiting decision now and then....remember The Great Urban Meyer took a chance on Stephen Alli.....Ox in 3,2,1.....

Anyone recall how many stars each of these guys had? I'm not even sure they ranked recruits back in SOS's day.

I was unaware that the first three were preacher sons, but that just bolsters my point. What's more the kid has connections with Hobby Lobby, need we say more about his character? When he get's married, we know it will be a traditional marriage as defined by the Bible, if you know what I mean. Frankly, I think this team could use some fellowship and spiritual guidance and Trask seems to be just the guy who can do it. When you consider the recent transgressions by our players, i.e. Morrison's arrest for barking at a police dog and Harris anally raping a co-ed, it's pretty clear this team could use some prayer meetings.

Didn't hear that was what happened. Are you comforted at all that it was a female student rather than a male?

Absolutely. The Bible mentions the first couple as Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve. Homosexuality is the biggest problem our society faces right now by far.

How is this? This is all Gator Lore 101. Spurrier brought it up about Wuerfell and himself on a regular basis, including before the 1996 National Title game about how he was old testament and Danny was New testament. The media couldn't stop talking about how Tebow was a preacher son, that was 50% of the narrative.

It's okay to take a chance on an unknown prospect when the rest of the class is 4 and 5 stars like Meyer's were. Right now McElwains class has more 0 - 3 stars than we've ever had, Even Muschamp after going 4-8 signed fewer 0-3 stars than McElwain. That's my concern. I don't care how good a coach McElwain is, he's not going to be competitive in the SEC with a roster full of mediocre players when everyone else is loaded with blue chippers.
