My guess is McElwain wil need to get offensive recruits of faith this cycle...

This is what I've been saying all along. And a good christian kid like Kyle Trask is a great start. Bravo!

You can win with sh*t. Mizzou has been doing it for the past two years. As far as the recruits, I believe we will get better ones near the end of this season if we show good improvement on offense.

That and we know many of the better or starred players tend to play the recruiting game longer either for attention or just because they can. So, a lot of them won't declare until they sign. I do hope for the best but there are no guarantees. The team's attitude seems to be better and the way we're seen seems to be better so both of those things are moving in the right direction.

This Trask kid looks like the real deal and I can't wait to see him in a Gator uniform, throwing darts for touchdowns.

He'll have to wait, as Luke Del Rio, Jacob Guy and Josh Grady still have eligibility, but he has a good shot at becoming our main scout team QB in a few years after they graduate. He'll have to battle it out with Hairy Grotto and Brian Phallus, but if he works at it, he could be our #1 on that unit. Welcome Kyle Trask!!

I don't think anyone who is okay with the commitment really thinks that Trask is going to come in and steal the QB job and bring us NC's. There is a disconnect from what the "optimists" are saying and what the "pessimists" are hearing. There are plenty of 2* kids who are in the NFL. Some are even all pro. We have one of the greatest RB in Payton and WR in Rice who didn't even play Div 1. Add McNair to the list, among many others. I think what the "optimists" (and I'm one) are saying is that he was offered for a reason, so there's no reason to think he'll be the Dan Werner of UF Football. He's playing behind a top flight duel threat QB, who is going to TCU. His stats I think are over 1000 yds on 70+% passing, 7 TD's and 0 ints. If he doesn't care enough to transfer, then I doubt he cares enough to camp as often as the other recruits either, which is where you earn your stars. From what I've read is that he has yet to have even a mediocre camp, let alone a bad one.

He is going to be a project and he may only end up being a clipboard holder. However, he is going to provide depth and add another arm to compete. If he ends up just being an average backup then we can finally move Treon. Not to mention his stars will not deter a higher ranked QB coming in. I think the 2017 recruit is doing enough of that already along with having both Treon and Will at the QB position. So no, I don't think anyone is saying that he'll be our starter at anytime. What I do hear people saying is that he may be extremely underrated for various reason and that we should give the coaches the benefit of the doubt before stringing them up like Muschamp.

Here's the thing, he doesn't even play meaningful snaps at the highschool level. It's impossible to know how good one is at a non contact camp. If this kid is so good why wouldn't he transfer somewhere to be the starter? This move doesn't make one lick of sense

Sure it does. The coaches evaluated him twice and liked what they saw. Like we've said over and over, he adds much needed depth at a position of need. Most of the top flight QBs have been committed elsewhere for some time and no one is beating down our doors to come warm the bench as a QB. All of those 3-4* QBs that are still out there are looking for somewhere they can start. How hard is that to understand?

Why do you keep bitching about this??? If anything I thought it would make you happy because it almost assures that Treon will be moved to the slot

Much needed depth? LOL. He's a warm body and that's about it. He might as well be an extra for the Walking Dead. If he sees the field we're in a lot of trouble.

While I agree that the staff does deserve SOME benefit of the doubt but let's be REALISTIC...he's(MAC) not getting four years of it like that dumbass before him. If Foley thinks this fanbase is going to be overly patient with another one of his hail mary's he's an idiot. For better of for worse, Mac has a lot less rope than Muschump.

Mac has actually developed mediocre QB talent into winners. Why can't he develop this kid into a backup option....especially if he's basically a blank slate like everyone has said with their "he hasn't played meaningful snaps". That means Mac can mold him the way he sees fit. If Morningwood didn't leave/ask to leave Trask may never have been offered. I have more faith in Trask than I did in Morningwood who was dead wood.

According to your evaluation. Let's be real. The real ones who might as well be an extra for the Walking Dead are you and I.

You don't know what you're talking about any more than I do. Can you people just calm down and let's give Mac & Co. at least ONE game to before we go all Chicken Little?

I was unaware that the first three were preacher sons, but that just bolsters my point. What's more the kid has connections with Hobby Lobby, need we say more about his character? When he get's married, we know it will be a traditional marriage as defined by the Bible, if you know what I mean. Frankly, I think this team could use some fellowship and spiritual guidance and Trask seems to be just the guy who can do it. When you consider the recent transgressions by our players, i.e. Morrison's arrest for barking at a police dog and Harris anally raping a co-ed, it's pretty clear this team could use some prayer meetings.
Wow, just wow. Really surprised that you would not know that Danny and the HBC were preachers sons. Thought you were more up to date than that.
Not sure what to say about the Harris Anal Rape first I have heard that version of the story.

It's okay to take a chance on an unknown prospect when the rest of the class is 4 and 5 stars like Meyer's were. Right now McElwains class has more 0 - 3 stars than we've ever had, Even Muschamp after going 4-8 signed fewer 0-3 stars than McElwain. That's my concern.
And that's why we are playing with an incomplete roster with 10-20 less scholarship players. Because Muschamp was more interested in stars and DB's than with filling the obvious holes.

Wasn't Shane Matthews something like the fifth string QB when Spurrior took over? That tells me that anything is possible.

I just assumed it was anal. He needs fellowship, though, even if it was merely ordinary, garden variety, run-of-the mill, pedestrian, mom & pop rape.
