Pot is legal in Colorado. Do FB coaches in Colorado have team rules against smoking pot? I am curious.

Federal trumps state. It's the same reason why employers can continue with drug testing even if it's legal in the state in which the employee resides.

Yeah, even when's the Feds choose not to enforce it.

Colorado is one of the states in the United States. Marijuana isn't legal in the US.
I wonder whether a good attorney might argue that it is legal
Since the Feds don't enforce the law and have indicated they will not, enforcement in a particular case might violate the equal protection clause.

Perhaps one of our "good" lawyers might want to comment?

Only a stoned lawyer would argue that.

The world would be a better place with more stoned lawyers imo.

Employers in Colorado, Oregon, and Washington can have rules banning it, even though it is legal. The NFL still tests for the drug for the Seahawks and Broncos. By federal law and cases they still have the right to punish even if it is legal.

Drinking is legal in all 50 states, but most workplaces don't let you drink on the job or go to work under the influence. Just because it's legal doesn't mean you can't get in trouble/fired for it.

They didn't rape, murder, or punch any girls, so there is that...

Yeah... and that would only warrant a half game suspension for those atrocities at forced sex university. JimBob would remind us that these are really just some good boys who made an honest mistake and assure us they had learned their lesson.

What part of "coach speak" do you not understand. Are you dense?...

You seem to think that it shouldn't be for drugs so I'm asking you, where should it be? Where is too far? I'd rather they be punished when stepping out of line for what you think are minuscule infractions. Players will always skirt the line, where you draw it makes all the difference...

EXACTLY! EXACTLY!! EXACTLY!!!

How many times did these things go unpunished during Meyer's time at the reigns? How many times did they look the other way??? We are hearing more and more from past players that this was a common occurrence during Meyer's time. And look where that left us... The lunatics eventually were running the asylum and it led to Meyer's declaring the program was broken and he felt helpless to fix it.

It's not about what our social stance is on marijuana. It's about following the rules. It's about putting the team before your own personal desire to get high. I, in no way, shape or form believe Mac was not pissed about this. Your starting cornerback... and the guy fighting to be the starting QB and leader of the team decide to put getting high above the team and the needs of the team. This is the exact OPPOSITE of what Mac has been preaching to these guys since the day he stepped on campus. It's not team building, rather it is selfish behavior. NOT what a coach wants from his starting QB or any other player on his team.

One direct way of looking at it : You got a starter failing in the drug rules and a close backup who obeys the rules ...
... how can you play the violator ahead of the observer of team rules ?

Don't think you can and keep the respect of the team for the long haul...

If you stay with this, you will see the relevance. Bert Jenkins, the greatest BB coach in the history of this state, died last week. Knew he walked with a limp; just learned he lost it by amputation in a German POW camp. Benched his star for violation of team rules. Players revolted saying all ten would leave unless he reinstated the star. He said "Good. luck." Played the B team and lost (4 and 17). Varsity asked to be reinstated. He said no. Parents went to court. Bert won. Finished with the B team. Next year those boys one the state championship. Bert was one of the nicest men I ever met. Quiet, soft spoken, just stood by his principles.

Or better said the close backup failing in the drug rules. TH is no way the starter at this time, he brings little to nothing that Will does not. All this running for him is not that much better than Will.

I agree if by "stoned" you are referring to the Old Testament meaning.
I usually go out of the way not to like any of Wobble's posts, but I can't help myself here.
