Did it occur that a lot of olinemen were fatasses then. Most of them nowadays don't even have a belly....What about RB's as a whole or Safety's as a whole, or the fact that todays QB's are trying to throw over 6'2" CB's......Or maybe the average LB has 4.7-4.8 speed versus 5.0 speed.....

No way 'Crete backs down from an argument.... No way in hell..... Gotta love his enthusiasm.

The average Offensive Tackle in College football weighted more in 1996 by approximately 10 pounds
The average Guard weight more now by approximately 4 pounds.
The average Center is approximately the same.

DE are lighter by approximately 10 pounds than 1996
DTS are heavier by 4 pounds on average than 1996
Nose tackles (for defenses that run them) about 20 pounds heavier now.
LB are the same on average as well as DB's weight wise.
You seriously think these numbers, wherever you got them from, aren't skewed. For example body index ratios are probably much leaner nowadays on lineman. Defensive alignments are nowhere the same as they were 20 years ago....Bucks/DE/LB are all mixed into one now, before a DE was a down lineman. CB's often stand over 6'0"....and on and on...

Changing your argument when the last one failed.

Sport Reference did a break down of 1996 verse 2006, then I just got the numbers from 2015, and compared to 1996. Not that difficult. As far as UF's line... which you failed to mention, player pages.

Now you want to change to BMI, that wasn't your earlier argument with UF's line was 275?

And CB's now often stand over 6', if it often over would you say 50% it's over, because that would make the average cornerback height taller than the 5'11" that is reported by the NCAA for 2015.

And you want BMI?

Tackles in 1996 had a BMI approximately .6 higher than now
Guards in 1996 had a BMI approximately the same as now
Centers in 1996 had a BMI Approximately .7 lower than now
DE in 1996 had a BMI approximately 1.5 higher than now
DT in 1996 had a BMI approximately 1.5 lower than now
NT in 1996 had a BMI approximately 2.0 higher than now
LB in 1996 had a BMI approximately the same as now

Huge difference as we can see between now and them on the BMI scale as well... this sport science it so new, know one knew how to take care of their bodies in the 1990's.

Who is Sport reference and is their "study" controlled? Where do they get their data? Do they use only power programs or do they use the mid level schools? I could do a study also to get my desired results...this doesn't prove sh!t. Take the Middle Tenn.States and such out of these findings and show me big boy football programs. I think you'll find the results are more of what I've been saying....Players are bigger, stronger and faster AS A WHOLE today than they were 20 years ago...guaran ****ing teed.

Dude, like every other time the facts go against, you... it the facts fault not yours. Please tell us again about that 275 pound offensive line in 1996?

If you have something to disprove my statements please present. Maybe the source is incorrect... but instead of that you go well they "maybe wrong". Your going to make a bunch of statements without any proof/facts/statistics behind it.

You sound like a blowhard... like your hero

So again your point is that todays football players are fatter, slower and not as strong?

When I have time I'll find the roster for 1996. Your weights sound a little heavier than I remember. Anyway a 300lber back then was only about as good as a 275# today....

You could...but you won't.... Because you'd rather just make random, blanket statements and present them as Gospel...cause you said so...

Like this little gem:
Players are bigger, stronger and faster AS A WHOLE today than they were 20 years ago...guaran ****ing teed

FWIW, I don't totally disagree with you... there IS a chance players are stronger and faster today then 20 years ago. So far though, other than your own personal "guranfvkinhtee", your arguments to prove just that, have been unimpressive and proven wrong...

Thing is, I disagree with blanket, unquantifiable statements like, "last years bama squad would destroy our 96 team 56-3..." That is the typical comparing apples to oranges issue. They're two different eras. The game is constantly changing and evolving. There's no way to qualify or measure such a statement.

Furthermore and most importantly, as a supposed "Gator fan" I simply cannot understand why it is sooooooo important for you to be right about your beloved bama squad being able to dismantle our beloved 96 Gators to the tune of 56-3. Your hard on for bama and arkry really make me question your gator loyalty.

No, my point is you make blanket statements disparaging the Gators on a regular basis, without facts or supporting context. You made a statement out of your A$$ which doesn't hold water, then you attempt to change your argument when called on it with facts that don't support your initial statement.

It has nothing to do with "Bama".....IMO any team that has won a NC since about 07-08 would crush the 96 team, including "my" 2008 GATOR TEAM....My point is not to insult that team. They "were" the best team that year, plain and simple. Look at it this way, our 2008 team would have dismantled the 1995 Nebraska team....MAYBE that will help reality sink in around here. The Boston Celtics were the greatest basketball team ever in the 60'.....does anyone think those teams could beat the current NBA champs???

Sorry man. I just generally disagree with you. If you were talking 50 or 60 years ago your argument may hold more water, but 20? That 1995 Nebraska team would still kick some major ass today.
