My dad is still alive at 84. He taught me how to fish, work hard and love. I have 4 children. They are all as different as leaves on the ground. Fatherhood is under rated and more important than we realize. Fathers need REALLY NEED to spend time with their kids. First to let them know they are important and loved. Second to give them direction on how live in this world. Children observe closely so what you do means more than what you say. Be a father on fathers day. I went out and picked my dad 3 lbs of blueberries early this morning, It is what he wants. Heading to his place soon. I am so very lucky.

My sister dropped by today with her husband and brought me some photos of my dad that I had never seen before as well as some of she and I with Mom and Dad when we were 5 and 7 years old. Pretty cool.

Good stuff. I went and picked 3 lbs of blueberries for my dad this morning and then took him for chinese food in Branford.

Bump. I know we have some good dads out there. And some dads that are probably just eh. I personally dont have a good relationship with my dad, but everyday I try to ensure that doesn't happen with my girls.

Sitting here this morning drinking coffee and watching The US Open. Wife and son are still in bed and it's quiet. These are simple moments that I enjoy. This is father's day to me.

The gifts, dinner and Hallmark card stuff is not that important. What I can sit here and enjoy is remembering all the good times I've had with my son and consider if I've done it right. And I think I have.

He's about to leave home and go off to college. And I've done everything in my power to set him on the right path in life and for that I am proud.
