Just mentioned that the 1996 team averaged 57 points a game at home. I think Chimp's teams scored 57 points for the entire season at home.

this is all soooooo good on so many levels.

he and mac having a meeting of the minds.

SOS spreading the good word to all the other teams in the program.

SOS was always good at getting the fans behind the program, and it looks like he's at it again.

just having him around, it crackles with the aura of good things to come.

are we back? not yet. but, his return is an important step to getting us back to the top. great move by all involved.

Nice summary there of his visit.

When asked to compare his offensive philosophy to McElwain's, this was Spurrier's response:

"I haven't watched enough to tell you all that," he said. "I think he wants to score a lot of points, so we're similar in that part, that's for sure."

Spurrier also got a question about his golf game, and he admitted that he played quite a good deal of golf during his down time as a coach.

"With the way these football coaches work now, I don't know how we won a game playing as much golf as I did in the offseason," he said.

On his new book:

"This is a true book. I think the Gators, you guys will love the book. Seminoles may not like a little part of it, but that's OK."

Another fan asked Spurrier to explain a bit about his new role at Florida and how things have gone so far. He summed it up pretty well, talking about how McElwain and his coaches have asked him a few things here and there, how he has watched other Florida sports and even spoken to a few teams.

"Today they got me over at the basketball clinic," Spurrier said. "I gave a free speech today to basketball coaches. That's what I do. I've got those two qualities they're looking for now: cheap and available for speeches."

The Head Ball Coach finished the evening encouraging fans to come out to the Swamp for the season opener in the way only he can.

"UMass, eh, they're not a great team," he said. "They weren't last year, but they'll come ready to play."

The more things change, the more they stay the same. He can still deliver the best zingers in the business. Man I'm glad he's back home.

I don't know how big of a deal it is to have SOS back on campus but I can tell you our rivals think it is huge.
I was at an outing last week with several customers that are grads from LSU, Auburn, and FSU (do they actually give out degrees?) and to a man they all believe that his presence is a huge difference maker for us.

I know I think it is awaesome

I was able to listen to the first 20 minutes last night and he told a story I hadn't heard before. He ran into a player off the 90 team that won the SEC on the field and he recalled that in a team meeting Spurrier told them they weren't going to shave the freshmens heads any longer because he didn't believe in that stuff, one of the upper classmen stood up and said thats a Florida tradition coach, Spurrier said son it's also a tradition too lose to Georgia every year and we're doing away with that one also. He then turned to Foley and said as far as I know it's still that way around here isn't it Jeramy, who said it sure is coach. I was Lmao.
