IF we win our next 2 games, what can it possibly mean?

There is really a thread on GCMB where people are wondering if we'll get in the playoff after beating FSU and Bama. Really.

I don't think the Gators get in, even if they win the next two. Too many teams ahead of them. They can't jump that far up with two losses.

If we win the next two we will have away wins against ranked teams FSU and LSU and neutral site wins against ranked Georgia and #1 Alabama. As bad as we looked in our two losses, no other two-loss team would have quality wins that good.

Uhhhh...I don't think any 2 loss team gets in. THAT is the problem. Bama will go instead of us. LSU and UGA might not even be ranked after this weekend. A&M and Ga Tech are decent.

The SEC is down right now. The committee does not have to pick conference champions. Just the best teams.

Winning in death valley then doak then beating bama in Atlanta would be tough to ignore. We'd be the hottest team in the country. The committee puts a big emphasis on conference championships.

Problem is FSU and LSU may not look that good in the final poll. LSU is already out of their top 25. The Bama win would be huge however and would get us in over any other 2 loss team but without upsets it looks like there will be four 1 loss teams.

Yes, they do put a lot of emphasis on conference championships. I guess that is a possibility. It just depends on their weighting factors.

Actually they don't. Only when comparing to equal teams. OSU and Bama each with one loss and not a conference champ would be in.

LSU and FSU are way down this year.

I'm old enough to remember a scary old TV evangelist who used to open every broadcast with the words, "I'm Kathryn Kuhlman, and I BELIEVE in miracles." If we beat both teams, I will join the old crone. Of course she's been dead for ages. I might have the "big" one too. I almost had the big one when we stopped the Tigers on 4th down.

Dearest oxking - that's one ugly dude! BTW, UF has used its allotment of miracles by winning at baton rouge.

If Utah beats Colorado I could see SC beating Washington in a rematch possibly allowing a 2 loss team to get in the playoff.

I'd say we have about a 5% chance of beating fsu and bama. That being said I'd give us a 100% chance of making the playoff if we win out and bama beats auburn. There's no way they keep the SEC champion out of the playoff especially one that closed as strong as we would if we win out. With a win this weekend we should jump the loser of Mich/OSU, fsu, Auburn, Louisville, and you know either Penn St. or Wisconsin is going to stumble. Then you have Okie St and Oklahoma the next weekend so we'll get another spot. That should put us around 8 or 9 before we even play bama. And if by some miracle we pull off that upset you don't think we'll jump Washington, Colorado, USC, and either Wisconsin or Penn St. if they both win out? Please, there's no way in hell if we win out we don't make the playoff.

I think we would get left out because Bama is getting in with 1 loss even if they lose to us. They would spin that as the SEC rep having only 1 loss along with the other 1 loss conference champs.

In that case you would have 4 1 loss teams, 1. OSU or Mich, 2. Clemson 3. Bama and 4. Washington. Everyone else would have at least 2 losses, if they took bama over uf, they would probably take a 1 loss washington over uf also just to avoid two SEC schools. But I don't think there's any question who would be the first 2 loss team in if we win out. If Washington st. beats Washington and bama beats auburn and we win out it's going to put the selection committee in a hell of a pickle. They'll either have to take a 1 loss bama over the conference champion who just beat them to avoid 2 SEC schools, or drop bama out and take 2, 2 loss conference champions over bama. I'd love to see a 1 loss bama get left out for 2, 2 loss teams.

I agree completely. I think this scenario would show the weakness of the present system. I believe the ideal system would be an 8 team playoff with 5 spots going to the Power 5 champions and 3 at large spots going to the top 3 teams, not Power 5 champions, regardless of conference.

I dont. If you dont want to get left out, then dont get bytched slapped by a terrible Arky or think you win games a halftime and play prevent offense and defense vs Band Boy.

I remember when they started the playoff, half the board thought there would be 2 SEC teams in every year. This back room cigar smoking no strength of schedule big Ten a$$ kissing committee was put in place to never let that happen.
