Scarlett is a good runner. I honestly don't see why people think Webb is so much better. Similar backs in my opinion. Webb is a little more of a bruiser and Scarlett has more speed. The thing that does impress me about Scarlett is that he does have the speed to be a game changer yet can still break tackles. That being said, if he was as good as TrannyJay26 said, there are at least a half dozen plays where he was stopped by the last guy between him and scoring. Elite backs make the cut and score.

Looking at some stats...Scarlett's longest run from scrimmage was against Iowa - a 46 yd run(not a TD). He had 25 carries for 60 yds vs FSU and Bama. That's not going to cut it.

Perine's longest run was a 59 yarder(not a TD) and he had only 421 yds on the season.

This group has to get better in big games. Mac's 4 headed puppy dog was a disaster. Let's hope he finds 1 or 2 guys and rides them all year.

Individual hurrays for individual players is a puss-fuss subject to tackle on a team sport like
football. My Gator-spirit admires a bunch of Gators taking up the slack or miscue of a mate;
nothing thrills me more than gang-tacklers of orange & blue - which must've kept Mr. Guice
from beating us.

Don't let these "my Dad can whip your Dad" articles detract from your "building" Gator faith
during this "wait-for-it" excitable offseason, seven months of Orange & Blue yonders. Meanwhile,
fill up with all the fine Gator Basketball enjoyment keeping football good-faith as your backstop.
Oh that's right, baseball's gonna be top notch too, you know. Keep Going Gators.

PS>> And atop those "3-major sports" sits a much higher nationally respected Lady Gators
Gymnastics Team of unbelievable "moves" athletes. :p

How'd Fournette do vs Bama *sips tea*

Look, it's hard to put up good rushing stats when A) no passing threat B) below average OL C) Nuss

I'll go ahead and change my name to "ScarlettJay26" -- Ox please do the honors.

Some of you guys are selling Scarlett way short. He had to run behind a mediocre at best line and still averaged 5.0 yards a carry. Plus for some reason Mac and the coaches insisted on doing that 4 Back rotation early on in the year even when it was obvious Scarlett was the most talented. If given more carries Scarlett would easily go over 1,000. I think he is one of the most talented backs in the SEC and this list is crap.

I think Scarlett has the potential to become a great RB, but I don't think he has yet reached that level.

My first thought was that he had fewer carries than other backs due to the 4 man rotation early in the season. I was wrong. In 2016 Scarlett carried the ball 179 times. That's pretty much the same number as Guice.

Hopefully, with improved play on the offensive line and, god willing, improved QB play Scarlett will see an increase in production.

I predict a big season for Scarlett as well.

So you are using another team and RB to justify our guy getting shut down?

Bottom line is...we need him to play better in big games. Not excuses.

Using Bama vs our OL as a barometer isn't a good measure of Scarlett's talent, that's all I'm pointing out.

It's a team sport and we need our QB and OL play to improve greatly in order for any RB to have a truly great year. That's not an excuse, that's common football knowledge.

I used FSU also. Two biggest games of the year and he had 25 carries for 60 yds. I'm pretty sure he would agree he needs to do better. That's common football knowledge. LOL.

BTW, I didn't say anything negative about him.

He averaged almost 4 ypc vs FSU, it was the Bama game that skews those numbers.

And I didn't say you said anything negative at all. I'm just not going to count it against him when we play the best teams on our schedule and he gets zero help. He can't do it all himself, not even AP - one of the best ever- can (go check his stats this year behind his atrocious OL).

So you think he'll be fired if we lose 4-6 games this year? If so...your tripping!

Six losses? Yeah, he would get the axe with that home schedule. The noise in the system is real and it would be deafening after getting killed by FSU at home. Foley saw what happens when you keep a guy an extra year.

4 games? No. 6 games? Yeah. I think so. Especially if we get owned by FSU and lose to Tn again.
Unfortunately...with the way our administration works I believe he'll be back for 18 no matter what. Im hoping like hell we don't have find out and he puts sh*t together next season.

After the Chump's 4th year...how could you do that again? What would be the reason? Money?

None of our RBs will ever be considered elite without a decent passing game or an OL capable of opening holes. We don't have an Emmitt Smith on the roster to overcome those shortcomings.
