In my memory, every new poster who shows up is attacked and run off...... Name 2 that have stuck it out?

Omar doesn't count.....

I see. So the forum started from day one with hundreds of posters who agreed on everything? Interesting take.

No, but the forum hasn't always been dominated by a few posters who won't allow any divergent opinions.... But, if you allow for the initial influx of new members, the growth has constantly been slowing down. Many lurk but few join and take part, that's a problem.

Some say "winning will fix everything" but we have been winning for two years. Yes winning ugly but still winning, and the atmosphere just gets bleaker and bleaker..... If we don't go undefeated and have a winning margin of +20, I don't see ever making the negators happy.

It is what it is, nothing will change after this "Bitch" session.

The only way I see to get an influx of new posters is some kind of give-away and advertising.

* The idea about some home grown articles also has some promise.

I think the best way to deal with people like that is to form a strong enough argument to back your opinions complete with facts and make it difficult to for them to continue their rebuttals without looking stupid and small.

As for new members, I'm not sure I want new posters who are afraid to stick their toes in the water and are afraid to mix it up. It makes things much more entertaining when there are strong opinions from both sides, as far as I'm concerned. As boring as it can get hearing every thread be attacked by constant naysayers with the same arguments, it would be just as boring reading threads full on guys saying, "Go Gators!".

We've named like 4 on just the last 2 pages, there's been an ongoing discussion regarding some of them. Maybe you should read the thread.

Clean up the "not quite deleted" mistakes everyone makes

Oh sh*t - you can see that stuff? Sometimes I'll start to post something that I shouldn't and then stop myself...

As to this topic...
Probably not adding much that hasn't already been said - but I actually enjoy some of the "negativity" on here in the form of constructive criticism of the program (both chump and Mac).
Even though I've been watching Gator football since the late '60's, I had never actually gotten into the recruiting world as heavily, the different personnel packages and the depth chart until I joined this board - joining only ONE MONTH LATE from being a founding member.
Hope you all are happy with your 'first nation' indigenous asses while the rest of us green card/ H-1B/Visa carrying/illegal immigrants slog it out in low paying posting jobs... but I digress.

I do recall occasionally bringing up "alternative" sports since football is covered quite nicely by most others, only to be castigated for doing so since the majority of those sports are non revenue producing.
But I have no one on ignore, nor would I since I either brush it off, or laugh it off. I know what I like and I'm not too worked up if someone doesn't agree with me.
I check in here every day to see what's going on with my GC buddies - and spend most of my time in the chat box since I can more freely interact.
And I think this is where I began to see a different side of some of the more "negator" type posters - in the casual, off the cuff kind of conversations.

This pumper v. negator type of back and forth can really be broken down into three types of folks (I'll let you guess who's in the last category)

I think we all know what's going on with Gator sports to a certain extent - let's just be thankful that we have a place where we can b1tch about Gator football, politics, home repairs and gender identity - and still sing We Are The Boys. Not many societies work this well.

Ok, time to put my 2 cents in. I ran across this community when it was at the dump site. I tried registering then but had nothing but problems. When I found out Ox started gatorchatter, I couldn't join fast enough. Why? Because of the cast of characters. The so-called negative ones? They are why I joined. The pumpers? Them too. If you said something stupid or started a dumb thread? God help you. You were getting mocked. It was fun to watch. It is even more fun to participate in. To me, gatorchatter wouldn't be the same without some of those "negative" posters.

Now, can someone define negative for me? I don't see a lot of negative. I see realism. There is a huge difference. For example:

1. Law consistently calling Trask Trash is negative. It gets on my nerves. I don't get why he does it. But so what. If things like that are causing someone to leave then I'm not sure what you do.

2. However, and I'm going off memory here, T-Rex and I got into a discussion during recruiting season about the talent level of a few corners. I liked it. He criticized it as not what it used to be. That isn't T-Rex being negative. That is him having a difference of opinion as to the talent level of the recruits.

I get the feeling some things are being called negative that are actually certain posters just calling a spade a spade.

Good Lord. WE HAVE ARRIVED PEOPLE!

No wonder this guy loved Chimp. Anything better than 6-6 baby!

You're a Fvking dick head..... I make a simple factual statement and you equate that to me being happy to average 10 wins a year. You are pathetic and probably qualify as one of the many lawdogs who waste our air...... Fvk-off prick!

There, does that satisfy your need for attention?

Follow your own advice and read the post before making more of a fool of yourself!
I read your post saying we've won the last 2 years. I also know we won chimps first, second, and fourth years, that's 3 out of 4. Keep calling me names, it's hilarious :)

As a semi-newbie who doesn't post as often as the regulars on here, I joined the board mostly because I was sick of the Vol trolling on the "other" board.

But like many others have said, I like the negativity. If that's what we're calling it anyway. Seems like a lot of realism to me. Or at least, I appreciate the differing opinions. Sometimes we can take the attack too far (I'm just as guilty of letting my emotions get the best of me), but what I fell in love with about this board was seeing that I am not alone. Just knowing that others have seen the crap display of football and are just as unhappy with it is oddly comforting.

I've been following Gator football since the early '90s and I know this almost sounds blasphemous, but I think I enjoyed some losses back then more than some wins now. And that's because the product on the field was exciting. We were in just about every game. It was fun right up until the end. This hasn't been the case in nearly 9 years!

They say that defense wins championships. But offense sells tickets. I turn on just about any other college football game and they are more exciting than our beloved Gators.

But we don't stop watching. And we wouldn't be on this board if we didn't bleed Orange and Blue. I truly believe that if things start to change and we actually see signs of life, there will be a lot less bitching on the board.

Even everyone ripping Mac and Nuss, etc doesn't want them to fail. Those people would LOVE to be proven wrong.

I complain mostly because it's gone on too long and I am hopeless for change.

That said, similar to what Jersey Gator said, I know the game well, but the facts and stats some of you guys remember or throw out there puts me to shame. It's mind boggling and I just don't have the time or energy to dig up everything. So I open myself up for ridicule. Oh well. So be it.

Funny thing is that I still remember the most random stats and facts from our '90s teams than anything in recent times including last season.

As one of the more "negative" fans, I do agree that shoving our same points over and over again in every thread is pointless and really does get tuned out over time.

We all know the product stinks. And we would all give anything for it to change. That's why we come here. To share these thoughts with our other family.

Thanks for reading and go Gators. :chomp:
