Soon, I will kill you all.

Soon.

I'm flying a lot more this year. I'm going to stick my head in the cockpit and say "Zambo?" on every flight. One day, you'll be there...and I will have my revenge.

I'm flying Southwest tomorrow - and that's exactly what I'm going to do
If all posters here start doing this on every flight they take pretty soon Zambo will become famous the way Kilroy was in WWII.

Wow...Is all I can say. Best board out there is right here.

The needs of many outweigh the needs of the few...or the one.

just as often that a thread devolves due to a tangent post, that same tangent ends up leading to some real gold and finds its way into the hall of fame. If you want to have some amazingly great threads you got to allow them to take on a life of their own.

...that's why I said...

I know there are times when the distractions are the most (or only!) valuable thing in a thread, but...

IMHO, GC is good as is. Lurkers gonna lurk. Bloviaters gonna bloviate. I joined to learn more about all things Gator from seasoned knowledgeable fans and am not disappointed. Any ramblings, vitreol or personal insults are just an added bonus. Nuff said.

Coach? Coach? Coach?

Oh, we need more liberals in the political forum. Can you put an ad in the personals?

Some people are always gonna lurk and not join or join when they feel the time is right. I lurked message boards for years without joining any. I simply was looking for information and opinion about CFB and enjoying reading what others thought about certain teams or players. There will always be strong personality types on any board from what I've seen and usually a few trolls and smart asses that make it entertaining for me.....Then again I'm the type of guy who greets my friends with a simple "f vck you" when I see them....I don't have a lot of friends:lol: but the ones I do have know me as being what I am....

This place does pretty well considering the amount of people with issues and the need to prove something. My life, by default, is wrapped up in social science. So I read and read what is posted and try to discover what makes some of the angriest and opinionated rant on so much. I understand the sports side pretty well. You got those SOS era posters that truly understand it all. Just throw the ball to open receivers and lay waste to our hated rivals. Then you have only the Urban era who think "just get enough bad azzz players" and destroy our hated rivals. I understand the pain of having rivals know they are better than us right now. Or the last few years. A few of us older ones remember being good but NEVER great. Never the best. Always the footnote in college football. IT is why SOS is our God. But now Ive gotten wordy.

THis place is fun. And angry and mean. But it is our place and we love it for the most part. This is where I can curse and be very sarcastic and have a drink sometimes to even be more sage like. I dont think we really need mods in a place like this. We need a majority to let the ledge walkers and nasty talkers know when they reach their limit. And we do. The variety in here makes it a good place to talk. If we all agreed the boredom would drive us away.

Some random musings on the topic at hand:
  • Message boards are where opinions are shared and junk is talked. If you can't respect differing opinion and/or take a barb or joke or two, either grow a pair or go elsewhere. There are plenty of flavors and colors to choose from on the interwebs.
  • As far as this board, yes strong opinions reign and both sides (or more) of any topic, sports or non-sports related. If I had one 'improvement' to suggest or offer, and everyone including myself can do it, is to be more constructive in praise/criticism. Don't just say, "gee that sucks balls" or "wow, that's great" ad nauseam. Add some facts to back up how you feel, and not like you are defending a masters thesis either, just some more constructive criticism or praise.
  • One thing that could also help, although a rarity, are constructive opposing fans. Not blathering fools like Alvin either. There were a couple of decent Vol fans in the past that made good contributions. We all gave Muncie (RIP) pure hell with the band smack, but, if there is such a thing as a 'good Nole', he was it, along with 'Noles'.
  • There isn't anyone here I wouldn't buy a beer or would not want to meet in living color, even folks I don't agree with 90% of the time, in fact, I think those posters would be the ones I would be most intrigued to meet the most.
Just my .02.

You had me at buy me a beer...

I'm a fairly infrequent poster but daily (multiple) reader. My principle reason for coming to this board is for Gator news and analysis. There are some pretty knowledgeable posters here. Shout out to C2, love the post game analysis.

Accurately characterizing "offensive" output, recruiting, and coaching is not negativity, it's realism. That doesn't say that there aren't legitimate negativity issues. For example:
  1. Calling the players names: Trash instead of Trask. Some people may find that funny, but I don't. You can characterize a players talent, output, etc. without calling them names.
  2. Not being able to enjoy good things; the recruiting turnaround this year. The class this year was not where it should have been, but Recruiting Day was still a positive. Some posters were not able to enjoy the day.
  3. Posts getting high jacked and turning into name calling and chest thumping. We don't need censorship, but the mods could do a better job here.
And I have no problem using the ignore feature. It works great.

I hope you guys read this. Next time he says Mike white sucks and has no idea how to run an offense against a zone defense, just ask him what he means by that.

Thank you. You just made my point. I have never said Mike sucks. I have said they have a good team and his kids play hard for him. what I have said is that Mike's teams are stale and stagnant against a zone defense and he does not use any player movement to try and probe and investigate how the defense might react to the movement. Giving an x's and o's opinion is what I like to do. That is different than saying someone sux.

On another note, Butters does Suck!!!!!
