And UT is in much worse shape that we are, and they don't have an academic side that is anywhere near close to ours.

Gotta bring it up ... simple guitar (no duelling banjoes), good voice, keen insight on U.S. geograhy. Starts out sounding complimentary but quickly takes a turn for accuracy in vulgarity = Stephen Lynch:

Dave Clawson is the guy they should go after. They likely end up with Jim Bob Cooter.

No way. Chad Morris would be an ideal hire for them at this point and I don't think Schiano gets enough credit for how truly terrible Rutgers was prior to his arrival. It's just if these coaches are smart it isn't happening. That place is coming completely unglued. The AD is fighting for his job and you have no idea who your direct manager is going to be in a year and that fan base really seems to believe their team is something it isn't.

That's why I like this board. The honesty is refreshing. Some people are far more pessimistic than I am, and some are much more optimistic; but I don't remember seeing guys here predicting "this was the year" that we were going all the way. Guys that we might consider Homers and pumpers they would consider negative. Think about it...it literally happens to them EVERY off season. Every single one.

Its pretty mind boggling for sure....
I'm not crazy about our future, but I'd be lying if I said that the sweet aroma of UT burning itself down and salting the earth with their tears wasn't helpful in taking some of the edge off the situation.

Wasn't really talking about the fans. The recruiting area is mediocre - it certainly can't touch the areas in Baton Rouge or College Station. In short, it's a slightly better Nebraska. The fans expect to win NC's but that's unlikely to ever happen again. It's a very difficult place to succeed, which is a major reason why you couldn't find a coach five years ago and you can't now.

You guys should have kept Phat Phil.

Fair statement. Outside of your regular nut jobs, the fan base simply wants to compete for the east and the Sec at this point.
I also think there is more to "finding a coach" these days than a twitter mob or unrealistic fans. I have said for years that Florida is a top 3 job in the country. Mullen was what? Your 4th choice? That is insane to me.That's not a dig by any means BTW. Just my point that salaries at every day programs exceeding 2 million, these coaches are thinking long and hard about risk/reward of uprooting family and taking these big SEC jobs.
Now I think Tenn puts the full court press on Jeff Brohm. Had a guy tell me this morning he thinks Brohm will accept. I have my doubts but we will see.

Others can do as they think best,
... Chief, what others 'round here ever think best?

Tennessee fans and lawmakers protest potential hiring of Greg Schiano. Firestorm erupts over this impending hire Schiano may back out of any deal.

... change their song to : "Flinty Flock"? ...err ... "Flippy Flop"? ... er ... Jocky Slop"?

Been a Stephen Lynch fan since about 2003. Love it.

So UT evidently talked with Morris last night and that ended with no deal. Now they're on to Brohm.

Brohm's agent: I got you an interview tomorrow with UT!
Brohm: Awesome, where is Herman going so soon?
Brohm's agent: Not Texas, Tennessee.
Brohm: <click>
Brohm's agent: Hello? Hello?
