Trask or Allen next year as starting QB?

You guys forget that Jordan Reed and Trey Burton functioned in this offense, and Reed apparently couldnt even call cadence and line everyone up correctly.

Franks has enough to make these quick decisions. You guys always blame the QB for bad offenses and Nussdumps was among the worst. No way to complete passes when you call the same plays every first and third down.

Im not saying Franks works out, but if looking terrible in Butters offense meant you were terrible, then Grier stunk it up in 17 of his 20 quarters and must be a failure too.

So you say we should blame the coaches for Franks not being good but then you wouldn't let us blame the coaches for Driskel not being good.

Because Driskel wasnt good for reasons that explained numerous times. Middle school QB type skills.

Mac failed these kids. Let's see what Mullen can get out of them.

Our young athletes do not know what it's like to operate on a CFB-field unconfused. Confusion is actually what Mac & crew promulgated. Have coaches pound that conglomeration into your head all week. Then get pushed out there with the execution order "it is what it is". Were Mac-n-crew so self-knowingly fraudulent that they figured that if they didn't coach them, then coaches couldn't be blamed 'cause the players did the failing? Then Mac strolling the sidelines disinterested 'cause "it is what it is".

Lots of stuff will change -- players' savviness, speed of decisiveness, and athletic performance.

I’m still confused why Allen and Trask suck and don’t deserve a chance at the job next year.

Haven't you heard? Past performance determines future outcomes; nobody learns from their mistakes; and if you weren't a HS All-American 4 years ago, you can't succeed in college. I don't even know why they bother playing the games. The outcome is preordained.

It is certainly the best predictor but skillset is the biggest thing that precludes these guys from playing QB in the Mullins offense. They will be encouraged to pursue other opportunities soon.

Honestly, I find it astonishing that you folks dont understand why they wont work in an option offense.

My tongue was stuck in my cheek when I wrote that. I am optimistic (though probably wrong) that Mullen may actually adapt the offense to fit the skillset of the players on the roster. Trask is a big guy and he did play in a spread offense in high school (he didn't start but he did have quality snaps). He might actually do well in Mullen's system. I don't think Franks can do well in any offense.

My sarcasm meter is apparently on the fritz today.

Franks is probably still the starter. Joe Milton and Joey Gatewood are both big, dual-threat QBs that are right down the road. Verbals to Michigan and Auburn currently I think. Both of these kids can play and are probably way better choices than Allen or Trask.

It wouldn't surprise me if Mullen gives Toney a look at QB in the spring. He did play QB in HS and might be a better fit than any of the QB's currently on scholarship.

Toney? The same guy who can't stay health and is scrawny? Not going to happen.

If Mullen is smart he will look towards a Juco fill in unless he can flip a bigger guy on the trail.

How is Toney being injured any different than LDR, Zaire, Clevland, Davis, on and on and on being injured? With the new W&C coach he should put on 10-15 pounds to 195 he's at now.

I hope Trask gets a shot to win the job. Kid has some skill but has had some bad luck with injury this year. He would have played some if not for being hurt
