I haven’t missed watching a single game in almost 20 years. Except this year there were about 6 games I didn’t watch because we’re effing boring. Mike White is the Will Muschamp of Florida basketball. Once known for full court pressure, high flying, fast break, exciting play...now we settle for mundane games where we jack 20+ 3 point shots per game. We stand in the corners and dribble the ball with 1 pass leading to a 28 ft shot. Everybody talks about it...nothing changes. We have no inside presence which makes it hard. Why not try SOME...or even ANY off the ball action. If you can’t pound it inside, why not at least make the defense DEFEND!!! Despite the close game tonight, TT was far superior. I actually enjoyed watching a well coached , thoughtfully designed offensive team. Too bad it wasn’t my team. Maybe I’m too old school , yearning for the days of the flex cut and motion offense leading to layups or highlight reel dunks. Maybe nobody does that anymore. I actually saw chiozza throw 1 alley oop to Hayes tonight and said to my wife “I can’t remember the last time I saw us do something like that”. I’m kinda sad that I don’t really even care anymore. Maybe one day it’ll cycle back to more disciplined, organized designed offense instead of this 1 on 1, one pass and a 30 ft shot with 20 seconds left on the shot clock nonsense. But until then I’m gonna enjoy more important things. Peace out gator nation

Oh and by the way, nice timeout at the end there coach. I could understand it if we rebounded one of their shots with 20 seconds left but we were in a scrambling situation there...terrible

Should clarify that I don’t know if he is transferring or not. I just know he has the option. Would be a huge get.
I know. I hope he does and we got room and can get him. I'm not sure he will though. If he doesn't go pro he would have a good shot of getting back to the tourney as is

Well does he want to just go back to the tourney or have a chance to make a run?

"Here’s the thing about this season…
This loss was heartbreaking. Allen was trash, had so many missed layups and turnovers. Cheeze was on the wrong end of two no calls that were called fouls.
But this season wasn’t about the loss.
We expected to be able to make a final four run because we expected John Egbunu to be back. Dontay showed flashes and Gorjok was hurt. Kevarrius isn’t meant to be a full starter anyway. Isaiah Stokes and Chase Johnson were hurt. They could have provided support.
What made last year’s team so great was the bench, which this one didn’t have. Ballard should transfer. Okauru, whichever of hudson/allen/stone didn’t start, and Bassett were really our only bench (I don’t count Gak because he played the whole season hurt).
20+ wins for now 19 of the last 20 seasons, including this one. We swept kentucky this season, made the tournament and won a game here! If that isn’t a successful season… To be honest I don’t know what is. This team was frustrating to watch at times, and it was the most inconsistent team we’ve seen, but they were still a success.
Oh, and with no semblance of a front line.
Auburn is an example of what happens when you lose your front line. Being one of the most dominant teams during the season, after losing their center, they limped into the poststeasons and almost lost in the first round.
The coaching job by white has been FABULOUS. This team was a bunch of head cases. Super inconsistent, and I am proud of white for finally getting the intensity on defense up (we only had one game in conference play where we allowed 80+ points, and after the vandy loss we only had one team put more than 70 on us).
This season was a success no matter what happened in the tournament. Kudos to Cheeze for an amazing carreer.
The future is bright." - poster from another site

"As for our future…

Notable Players leaving: Cheeze, 3gor (thanks for a great season!)
Notable returners: Hudson, Allen, Stone, Okauru, Hayes, Gak, Bassett,
Returning from Injury: Stokes, Johnson
Unknown: Ballard, Egbunu
Incoming commits: As of right now: Andrew Nembhard 5* pg and Noah Locke 4* SG

So here’s my logic here.
Ballard I think should transfer. I saw nothing from him that impressed me. He played terrible defense, was not a good shooter, had no ball handling skills nor assists. He also fouled too much.
Egbunu should return. No professional team would take a guy who hasn’t played in 2+ years. He has things to prove.
Obviously Cheeze is a huge loss but I think Okauru and the new five star freshman will pick up the slack at point guard. There will be a dropoff, but it will be manageable.
We have Allen, Hudson, and Stone returniing. They are all sharpshooters and I think stone and hudson will come into their own next year, especially Stone. With Allen, hopefully his senior experience will get him to improve and work on his game in the offseason.
Now for our front line.
First of all, having a front line allows Stone to play a true 3 instead of 5, giving him more opportunity to exploit his strengths.
Here would be our front line assuming egbunu returns.
Egbunu (obviously a huge improvement), Gak (Healthy without injured knees and able to condition and strengthen himself), Hayes (who will work onhis game in the offseason hopefully), Bassett (who showed flashes at the end of the season, always a good sign), Stokes and Johnson, giving us a very big front line.
Next season will be a heavy guard team with good three point shooters… but it will HAVE A FRONT LINE. We will be better next season than Auburn was this season. A testament to the coaching job of Coach White." - from a poster at another site

this guy has good perspective and isn't looking at things with a fire everyone mentality or knee jerk reaction after a close loss to end the season...

K Johnson is a 3...not a 2 at all and will play the 4...White's words not mine (though I agree with this one lol) He has like a 7 foot wingspan at 6'5 and would be the best defender and a thee on our team right now imo

A. We shall see if he is really 6'5" when he gets to UF. Maybe he is growing and is 6'6 or 6'7" and can play the 3. Maybe he stopped growing and his AAU height is a bit anticipation and he is 6'4" or even 6'3". That is the way it goes some times.

B. There is almost NO way K. Johnson would be the best defender on UF now.

C. It is really a shame not to play a guy like Stone who is such a natural 3 at the 3. Stone certainly fits in the line of Miller, Brewer, Parson, Prather as that big 3 that UF was famous for.

Egbunu is 98% gone. Won't be back for a 6th year host likely, you forgot Kyontae Johnson, and 1 or both of Hudson or ALLEN will test the NBA/Europe (hopefully not go though)

Stone isn't a 3 imo. He is a 3.5. Offensively he is a 3, defensively he is in between a 3 and a 4. Not quite quick enough to guard the 3 and not big enough to consistently defend the post. Hopefully he improves in those areas

Well, that sucked, but I'm proud of our guys. They played hard but couldn't overcome their own limitations. A lot of what ifs, but if Cheese had a better jumper, if Hudson was a better FT shooter, if we had more inside presence (like Egbunu), if the whole team was more clutch at the line, then they would have had a chance to go deeper.

I thought this team would make it to the sweet 16 but didn't figure on them making it any further. They came up one game and a few points short.

Still appreciate the effort and some pretty great wins, and some pretty terrible losses in one of the most erratic seasons I can remember.

Look forward to next season. Go Gators!

They didn’t win 2 games this weekend, something you said they needed to do to see positive. They failed, and it’s a failed season.

fck the refs..........TT in the double bonus 2nd half in less than 7 minutes? THat home cooking deserved two Michelin Stars. TT was better (or at least played better) than I thought. I guess they deserved that seed. But 10 fouls that quickly? Refs make the one shiny/****ty moment for this game.......

All things considered it was a good season. I thought our ceiling was Sweet 16 and fell 1 game short. You just cant underestimate how the post position couldn’t get 10 points a game collectively. Literally no go-to post play or player offensively, Defensively the post couldn’t get 10 rebounds a game consistently.

It’s a definite game changer. Everything on the court becomes harder.

I enjoyed every game I attended. And by game that includes pre and post game libations.
KeVaughn Allen was pre-season All-SEC and potential All-American pick. His regression really hurt this team, as he was supposed to be a dependable go-to guy and prolific scorer. Hudson had some great games and some average games, but was a liability on defense. Egor played out of position as a #4, but was our leading rebounder. His shot selection was bad a lot of the time but he played hard and was an added contribuotr to the team. Chiozza was great and his leadership and game knowledge will be missed. Hayes was forced to play a more prominent role than his skill level. He's a hard worker and always gives his best with limited ability. Okuru showed steady improvement as the season progressed and will be and important part of next year's team. Bassett, also, showed improvement and should contribute more next year. Ballard was very disappointing to me. He came in highly touted and never improved at all. Doesn't play defense, turns it over too much and takes bad shots. I think he has talent, just hasn't figured out how to fit in to White's system and will need to either adjust and adapt or transfer, IMO. Gak played hurt and showed signs of being able to help the team. He gave valuable minutes at times. Stokes should be a major player for us next year on both ends of the court. Johnson's concussion hurt the front court as well because he was showing signs of being a pretty good player when he git injured. Nembhardt and Locke will bothe be counted on to be major contributor immediately. Whether or not they're ready will go a long way to how good the team will be. And the final question is whether or not Coach White can get another grad tarnsfer to come in and provide quality help. Should be interesting.
