Foley's biggest failure was not upgrading the facilities. If he had upgraded them, then we probably would have gotten a better coach than Mac because top coaches would have wanted to come here. Heck Urban may have stayed longer!

Facilities. he could've hired bear bryant in 2015 and we would've still been 5-10 years behind everyone else in facilities

Jimmy Mac was obviously out of his element and punching above his weight class from the first presser. He seemed to think being a good ole folksy kind of guy would carry weight here. Foley should have recognized that immediately and arranged a buyout. Instead of two years of recovery, the football program is going to languish for five to six years, even if Coach Mullins is the second coming of the OBC.

I gotta go with Butters.....Even though our facilities fell behind we still had a franchise QB which Butters ran off....setting our program back a good 3 -5 years....It was almost as if he were sent here as a Bama paid Double Agent to ruin a program which could easily be bact to a top 10 program by now.

Facilities. Derick Hunter who is an idiot, but he just visited georgia and said he liked florida, but georgia is just on another level with what they are doing.

Player dorms are small prison boxes. Foley was a cheap pos who used 99% of football revenue for non revenue sports. Sure he built a powerhouse Athletic department but football has suffered for a decade because of it.

3-5 SEC, 4-7 overall in 2017, no starting-caliber qb in 3 classes, decimated roster. Butters.

Question for those saying facilities???? What difference would facilities have made if Butters had been hired? He didn't know his a$$ from a hole in the ground and ran off the best player we've had here in damned near 10 years.....

They're both a matter of cumulative effect.

My belief is Mac on the heels of Muschamp set us back further.

ESPECIALLY when you factor in the absolute piss poor condition he left us in talentwise.

We and the contractors for the new facilities will be digging for awhile.

SOS won with inferior facilities. It takes a good coach to win games, not an IPF.

Mehhhhhh.....

We are 25 years behind on facilities not 5-10 as some suggest. We were FAAAAR behind Trailerbammer by 2008. hell I walk through Kentucky's facilities in I don't know 2000-2001 I couldn't believe how far behind them we were at that point. Grandpa's old Buick was still running but even then it was 20 years old and had 150k. One of the many things mentioned by Creyer with reapect to his mental breakdown was "the state of college football" whoch everyone stated was Bammer and the other teams which quickly emulated them and Florida being a "broken program" which was said to describe everything from the ADs office tonthe kids in the locker room and their lack of slef discipline.

BTW, the questions answers, being a facilities slumlord who occasionally painted the block walls vs buying coaches off the halfprice rack. They are two manifestations of the same flaw.

Build it and they will come. The kids and the coaches.

Foley is a joke. That "we're not getting in an arms race" was all you needed to know. The reverence that some people give him is undeserved. He rode the wave of a population boom and SOS to do things a monkey could've done. He gets way too much credit and not enough blame by a lot of Gator fans. I'll give him Billy D but not much else.
