I agree that hiring a national championship coach is key. Foley hired one in basketball , football and baseball. Can't think of another AD who did that.

Foley following the strategy of hiring a Saban assistant coach (Muschamp,Mac) for a head coach failed. Not many AD's can say they had three national championships under their watch in football like Foley did.

EVERY AD misses on coaching hires. Bama's ADs from 1993 to 2006 certainly did not fare well and got NCAA probation (Foley never went on NCAA probation).

AD Bill Battle of Bama only had one football national championship during his watch. The new Bama AD Byrne has one also to Foley having 3 football national championships as AD.

Two of Foley's football national championships were after Zook. Plus after Zook UF won two basketball national championships. Never been done.

Good thing you were out on the donkey pasture then rather than serving as UF's AD!

Foley hired Donovan who won two national championships in basketball after Zook arrived. People said you could not win a hoops national championship at football school UF. Foley did not accept that.

In football the people who know , know that Foley closed Meyer. One of the things Foley did to beat Notre Dame was introduce Meyer and his wife to the wife of the national championship basketball coach he hired. Donovan's wife talked up the UF program.

We beat Notre Dame who had more money than UF. UF's advantages were Meyer worked with our president at another school and the atmosphere Donovan's wife talked up. Notre Dame's advantages were money and Meyer being Catholic and named after a Pope.

SOS showed that the right coach at UF can dominate the SEC without the best facilities . UT had much better facilities than UF and we have owned them.

Mac tried to act like his lack of recruiting success was all about facilities when a big part was really that he was a weak recruiter. State of Florida recruits who heard from Meyer all the time didn't hear a peep from Mac.

UF will have great football facilities when you combine our new football center with our top tier athlete academic center and new IPF. Mullen has shown he will work hard unlike Mac which should help UF catch up from the recruit reactions to Mac's meltdown and laziness.

All the GOAT people got a rude awaking when he found out he couldnt get any conference to hire him as commish ornasst commish.

I remember hearing about him being GOAT and commish was assured. Surely no one could be more qualified than GOAT.

I take great satisfaction in him getting his horseteeth kicked by SEC, Big 12 and several minor conferences. GOAT my ass.
