Your exact words were "Foley did not hire Meyer" and you still have no proof.

You had no source. My source said it was his hire. Plus you admit he was very involved. But claim it was not his hire when it was in his job description to hire coaches and he was very involved. You are in denial.
And around and around we go again.

F*cking idiot.

Bottom line is
as the UF AD and per his job description Foley hired Meyer.
You are absolutely correct. Never denied. What's most amazing is that you could not recognize that.

Thanks for being specific on the hire part.

If you had not specifically said Foley did not hire Meyer I would not have challenged it because that is in his job description.

I do not love Foley as I think he blew his last 2 hires in football and that has set UF back. I give him negative credit as an AD for that.

But I think it is not fair to him to not give him the proper credit he deserves as an AD for hiring a coach that got UF two national championships.

Another thing you failed to acknowledge. I recognized that Foley administered the hiring -- under Machen's directive.

So, yes, he technically was the one who hired Meyer. Would it have happened without Machen's initiative or influence? Doubtful.

Thanks for being specific on the hire part. Machen was definitely important as Meyer knew he could work with him. All those 5 star recruits he inherited helped also.

Nice analysis. The 247 recruiting guy said we will have a better idea of how good our recruiting class is at the end of the summer. But you are correct that recruits will want to see what we can do on the field.

Thank you for being specific about Machen's importance in the process. My pleasure to be able to explain what a secondary role Foley played.

Yes, Zook will go down as one of the great transition coaches of our time.

I was told that Foley was told by Machen to go get Meyer after Foley did a study of all the available coaches and said he liked Meyer the best. I cannot confirm who or what was secondary in Meyer's mind.

As recruit oriented as Meyer is , the 5 star recruits he inherited could have been number one but I do not know what Meyer was thinking. Do you have a source on that other than Machen was the president?

Another, 2nd, nice close. Very well put, jbyrd. May we all now proceed to a more peaceful and meaningful thread.

JC! JByrd was told nothing by anyone of significance. I can’t take this mind numbing thread anymore.

On to the dungeon.
