It's actually somewhat decent analysis, despite his being a bulldog(cue 812). But if it's correct, that will be a bad first year for Mullen. There are certain psychological battles on our schedule, and we're already up against the ropes with uga and fsu. To start with a loss to the vols, and a first time head coach, would be a disaster for Mullen.

I also think Barnhart's falling into the Muschamp "this time it's different" trap. I'd be fine watching uga go down in that game, but I think the Usce hype is nonsense. Though I guess it's better than the "keep an eye on the wildcats" mantra of the last few years.

I just don't see it. Maybe I'm too invested in this team but I see us running the ball this year and playing great defense, while the offense comes together. UT was just as bad as us last year and they do not have as many returning starters as us. We have a lo t of experience coming back and an actual coaching staff. The last two seasons were bad, as far as coaching for us but Mullens is fixing that.

And has us losing to Tennessee. How pissed will our fan base be if this is true? Mullen can’t lose to Tennessee in year one.

It's an SEC road game. They have a new coach. Fans might think we "own" UT...but we "owned" FSU under Meyer too. Again, it's an SEC road game vs. a traditional rival. I'm not chalking it up as a win. I hope we win, but I'm not chalking it up. I'm on record as us going 6-6 this year. That's a 2 game improvement from last year, 50% more wins. We're going to have losses this year and UT is a possibility. Either way it's the first road game under Mullen, and the QB will be either a 2-star project, a 4-star bust, or a true freshman.

We'd be 6-2 if he's right about every game but tinerc. That wouldn't be a bad debut for Mullen & Co.

All conjecture at this point.

I really have no grip on how our OL comes together...

If we are at least "solid" up front, we might have a 8/9 win year..... If we continue to be a turn style OL, could be a 5/6 win season. Whichever, we will be better than last year which isn't saying much.

Agree...and I think the defense will also have to gel pretty quickly or things could get ugly pretty quick.

And honestly, we were outplayed against Tennessee since 2013... and Butch won't be on the other sideline.

Barnhart and other SEC analysts are way too high on USC. Does anybody even remember how bad Muschamp was here? I think the East is like this talent-wise...
Uga

Gators

USC

UT
I think like others here that if we're playing conservative ( not my preference), running the ball and playing good D we have a shot at going to Atlanta. UGa is not unbeatable.

Muschamp was ok year one, at both UF & USCe.
Year two at both places, he had good years.
Year three at UF was a 4-8 season. Hold on Gamecocks, you're in for a bumpy ride this year.

I would not be betting the farm on UToothless for anything. They will have an incredibly young team and with a new HC. Mullen has plenty of experience being able to handle that. Not saying UF wins, but crowning the Champions of Life already........they have the tendency to shyt the bed.

You must have forgotten his 11-1 season
:lmao2:

Yes, the 11-2, errr 11-1 if you ask Fooley, season. The season when he scored four touchdowns in October and November and though he had arrived.

BTW Fooley pulled the same trick with Butters, kept removing his Bammer losses from his SEC record, bc, you know, Bammer isn't in the SEC anymore apparently.

As bad as our offensive line is and as poor as our QB play is, we could easily lose at Tenn and lose to S Carolina. Add in the fact that Grantham is a a reckless, poor fundamental DC who specializes in giving up big plays, this could be a very long year. Add to the mix a head coach who thrives at losing against even decent teams ( and S Alabama), it is hard to see what there is to get excited over quite frankly.

With Franks at QB KY may finally pull it off this season. Heck Del Rio and a KY defense that left WRs uncovered a few times had to save the day last season.
