Here's a post I made on April 15th. It appears it's coming true.
Jones has an opportunity to make an impact THIS SEASON if he works his ass off over the summer. God, I hope he's the hard-working type and isn't going to be sitting around playing Madden and smoking weed.

I'm not convinced Mullen is going to run Franks out there if he knows he sucks.

If it is true that Franks has not improved he won't be starting, I doubt that is correct. If Jones is actually leading the team in the off season he probably should be the starter, I also don't believe this. Now that he is working hard and is being part of leading the team in the off season I believe and that is very positive.

I expect coach to start and play whichever QB gives us the best change of winning, nothing else.

Agree.... best player starts..

I might be surprised but coach has indicated strongly that there is no "offense" but rather one that can and will be adapted to the talents of the players instead of the other way around. The QB must be willing to run, all three meet that criterion
One of the quarterbacks you guys think are in the competition doesn't meet that criterion.

Yes, every coach claims there is no offense and he's going to use the tools that he has. Mullen said it twice now. He said it in 2005 too, and then he had Chris Leak run the option for nearly 2 years. They all say that, and they are all liars.

I don't know what an improved Franks looks like. His Driskel-like Rightfielder-Throwing-to-Third wind up is hard to fix.

Maybe it just means a guy that scares them a little with a slight potential to run, who can make one read plays, some RPO.... a guy that doesn't lose games and keeps the seat warm until
EJ is ready.

I still say EJ starts by UGA.

E. Jones is showing himself to be a Gator leader in off-season training & dedication. Heard he has been "recruiting" for his future team. He just may become ready at some point in the season, if the 2 QBs we got do not make us decently offensive. Love to see a sparkling dual-threat QB out there. Makes opposing defenses mistake-prone.

Or sooner.

We dont have a returning AllSEC QB like Leak putting the coaches in a difficult position. There's only one quarterback on the team that can run this offense and frankly the next best options probably aren't called quarterbacks right now.

It honestly crossed my mind that you not only quoted yourself for an "I told you so" but that you may have manipulated the like function for yourself.

I believe the phrase you are trying to use is "best chance of winning/success".

Yes my typing is sometimes not that great and if I don't notice it is not correct. But you understood so I am good.

Wake up dreamers, until this OL starts plowing people under, EJ isn't doing sh!t once the game scouting reports filter to the SEC Ds nor the RBs rumble nor the deep WR routes that juice the momentum. I'm hoping better line "muscle" from S&C gives us enough to win 7-8.

Yeah, that about encapsulates the general reading, nut swinging and soothsaying
Yes, God forbid anyone shows even the least tiny bit of optimism under the new staff.

A guy like Emory Jones, who can run like the wind, can still excel with a mediocre offensive line.

A mobile QB will have a much better shot behind a porous line. Let's see if Mullen can get him ready in time. Lots of true frosh playing lately.

You know what would help a struggling o line? A qb that doesn't take the entirety of his eligibility at the University of Florida to make a decision. Plus we have decent talent at o line. Knowing what we know now about how bad the previous weight program was we have to be optimistic they will take at least a tiny step forward. Plus we all know from experience Hevesy can coach em up. Im not expecting that unit to be a strength of the team but I'd be shocked if they aren't one of the most improved units this fall. (Not that that's saying much)

Yes, and was it Meyer or Mullin that made those adjustments? Unfortunately, we don't have near the talent and a 6'3 230# Tebow to bully opposing defences.
I don't get the "Tebow package" references regarding EJ and whatever QB that is supposed to compliment him.
Hopefully Mullin learned something over the years, because I don't see that happening.

I get it, but this is getting old. I know....they need to show it on the field. But so does about 3 or 4 other position groups.

We have 5 returning starters....and a 6th who has made several starts. We have a couple of 4-stars (TJ Moore & Delance) who competed in spring ball and a high 4-star true freshman arriving (Gouraige).

We have an OL coach who has proven he can 1) coach in the SEC 2) develop OL's 3) make a good OL out of 2 and 3 star players (which he did at MSU).

We have a S&C program this year. The last 3 years we had the equivalent of a lesbian HS gym coach putting our players through stretches and high rep/low weight lifting exercise.

We aren't winning the SEC this year. But we can damn sure show up on Saturday and put a quality product on the field, can't we?

The combination of 1) experience/a year older 2) a "real" OL coach, and 3) a 'real' S&C program should lead to noticeable improvement.

I'm not as worried about the OL, especially if Heggie comes back healthy.

I'm worried about what Law keeps talking about; Mullen forcing Franks to look like Leak did in 2005. I'm hoping EJ wins the job and we don't have to deal with Franks. It's good to hear he's making progress.

Well he did adjust a lot in 2012 by not running the starting QB hardly at all and passing a little more than usual. Didn't really try using a FB much either like with Leak in 05.
