Don't be surprised if we do. Just keep the defense honest. He won't be the only TE that will help in the running game.
We are pretty much going to need another blocker to help this line. It might as well be him instead of motioning a slot inside like we used to do sometimes.

I am thinking of Moral Stephens and Gamble in addition to Raymond if Gamble ever gets his head out of his ass.

If #1 leads to a KY loss like it almost did last season then we may see Jones starting real early in the season.

I'm actually worried about Franks ending the streak this year. He would have last season. I can't believe I'm saying it but Del Rio saved us with that 4th down pass to Mark Thompson. Of course the real reasons we won were Malik taking over, Toney hitting a perfect pass to Tyrie, and Brandon Powell on 3rd and I think 6 taking a stupid ass swing pass and juking 2 defenders to get the first down. That last one pissed me off because a.) the f--k was that call and b.) why did Del Rio throw it to him

Not sure Powell ever caught a single pass that wasn't on 3rd or 4th down, well behind the chains and requiring at least a few jukes to make anything of it. But yeah, that call was more even more egregious since it was 3 yards behind the line of scrimmage to the short side of the field, and if I recall correctly was actually a backwards pass. Just all around fun.

And what's worse, as illogical as that playcall was, Stoops had it sniffed out. So not only were McElwain and Nuss predictable, opposing DC's would just think of the most absolute boneheaded thing an offense could possibly do in a given situation, and prepare for that.

Yes, God forbid anyone shows even the least tiny bit of optimism under the new staff.

A guy like Emory Jones, who can run like the wind, can still excel with a mediocre offensive line.
Come on man, sell some more insurance policies and feel better... I’m probably one of the most optimistic people on the site when it comes to DM potential despite I’m not a die hard option game fan... the point is our OL for years has looked under sized and played going through the motions ball... I find it hard to cheer lead a running game against SEC Ds without serious aggression changes upfront... but some people like jail break ball with a few improvised runs from a few skill players... nobody is popping that fantasy bubble... equally my opinion is as valued as any homers wet dream of running roughshod over the league. My take is measured when it comes to our Oline and a frosh working miracles by himself... who doesn’t want success, it’s the singular player saves the day I find entertaining, carry on feuhrer :lol3:, love ya!

Sniffed out? Youd have to spend your game prep week plastered to not know what was coming. The announcers would circle Powell on third down.

Hell, if you can tolerate it without permanently destroying your liver, watch a game from last year and take a shot for every first down screen pass, second down draw play and third down play action crossing route to Powell you see.

This explains quite a bit judging from your in game chatbox commentary over the last 2 years....:drunk2::drunk2::drunk2:

With Muschamp, we had no offensive lineman because he didn't recruit them. With Mac, there was poor coaching and no S&C program. If Mac was still here, I'd have us penciled in for 3 wins.

However, we have someone running a real football program right now, with real coaching and weight training. I'm willing to be open minded that the play of many of these players is going to pick up considerably.

crazy thing is, while this is true, the year 2 line chump had was infinitely better than anything we currently have. the current o-line is putrid.

We have 5 returning starters....and a 6th who has made several starts. We have a couple of 4-stars (TJ Moore & Delance) who competed in spring ball and a high 4-star true freshman arriving (Gouraige).

We have an OL coach who has proven he can 1) coach in the SEC 2) develop OL's 3) make a good OL out of 2 and 3 star players (which he did at MSU).

We have a S&C program this year. The last 3 years we had the equivalent of a lesbian HS gym coach putting our players through stretches and high rep/low weight lifting exercise.
As 8802 pointed out having a QB who can actually make a decision AND see over the line does wonders for our perception of what good offensive line play is... We have adequate players on the offensive line(not great) but there's enough there to work with as long as the QB isn't making bad decisions and the offense has a OC(play caller) with half a brain...I hope EJ can get it done for us.

Another thing; we KNOW they aren't throwing him the ball when he's in the game. Which, as I recall from the 2005-2006 era, was very common w/ this offense (i.e. if Kenneth Tookes was on the field, it was very, very likely it was a running play).
They cpuld sneak him out every once in a while. He was wide open but he still made a nice grab in the spring game and was athletic after the catch. (His knee was down though)
