Is there a team in NCAA Div 1, 2, or 3, that runs the bases worse than these Gators?

Asking for a friend.

I maintain that running Bynre out there yesterday for 2 innings and 27 pitches made him not as effective today. But the real key was our inability to get hits with runners in scoring position. Over & over. And the baserunning was poor once again, like it has been the last 6 weeks or so.

Well I just got home and have not read anything from the game but I don;t think there is much to say other than we squandered multiple opportunities to score. We hit into 3 double plays, had a leadoff double stranded at 2nd, way too many unproductive outs and a runner thrown out at the plate on a run on contact (I presume) with the infield in. If you had told me Kowar would give 1 run on a solo shot thru 7 innings I would have said we win easily. Kowar was outstanding and his offspeed stuff kept the hitters off balance most of the day. I think there were a couple of times we could have played small ball, but that is not how Sully manages. there was some poor situational hitting that is not Sully's fault. We just have to play better tomorrow. And lastly, the thing with Byrne is the same. If he is not locating his pitches PERFECTLY, he is easily hittable by good college players b/c he does not throw hard and he is always around the strike zone. But missed offensive opportunities cost us the game today.

I just talked to jboss. He assured me that if we just hit the ball, we'll win.

Game time change for Game 3 Monday nite. Game has been moved up 30 minutes and will begin at 8pm on ESPN, weather permitting of course.

If Duke is able to defeat TTech tonite, then all 4 of the Sat, Sun, Mon. series will go to a winner take all game. I hate it for the Gators but it is really great for college baseball and gives it another day on the ESPN stations.

For sure! I’m mentioned in the chat box during yesterday’s game that we should not of used Byrne.....of course nobody agreed. “He can pitch three nights in row”

I would not have used Byrne either in Game 1, but anyone knows that in this part of the season Sully only trusts Byrne out of the bullpen and Butler to a degree. I am not counting Mace/Leftwich as I see them as game 3 starters thus being held back. We do have plenty of arms just not very many that Sully trusts.

Speaking of bullpens, depending on situations, any chance we see Mize out of the bullpen for an inning or 2 in Game 3? I think he only threw about 80 pitches on Saturday?

I would think this a Johnny Wholestaff type of game. Leave a pitcher in too long your season is over.

I'll be there. When he's on he's really good; hope he doesnt get the freshman yips. I imagine he'll be on a short leash. It's a shame they wasted that gem by Kowar.
