It's both, but he needs to improve what he's doing and worry about him. He can't fix the O-line and there were piss poor reads when he DID have time. Last year it was pretty much a consensus on this board that he should be done at the QB position. It will be that way again by the UGay game.

diehard, I get what you are saying... but if you are parents of a blue-chip qb we are recruiting, and you have seen the OL's that have lined up the last 8 years. Would you encourage your son to come to Florida? The best ambassador to Florida Football at the quarterback in the NFL is currently Jeff Driskel (Louisanna Tech?). I look and say if I want my talented kid to play on Sundays is UF the place where he will get through 4/5 years healthy and go to the league?

I'm not defending our O-line, it's bad, real bad. He has to deal with it and that sucks for him, but he has still got alot of same problems he's had since day one. Yes he was under alot of pressure but so are most QB's in this league. If you were to rank the top 5 DL in the country at least 3 and maybe 4 are in the SEC.

Like I said I get the argument against Franks.... just don't know if we are going to get anything better. Until we can show improvements in other areas.

So dont bother trying?

Obviously we are trying with Emory and attempting to recruit Jalen. But there is a reason our last 3000 yard passer was 2007. That a school that was knowing for putting offensive talent in the NFL has been on a bit of an NFL drought. Most of the kids we are recruiting were anywhere from 5-7 the last time we were relevant. That's a damn fcking thing in this show me now society. Mullen is going to have success with a douche canoe like Franks or truly develop one of the Jones before anyone we get a recruit that is both blue chip talent and prepared to play. Franks was a blue chip talent, but not prepared to play. Mullen needed Dak who was an unrated talent at MSU. Mullen is going to have to show people before they are going to jump on board, and part that of that will be making a douche canoe like Franks into a competent starter.

Jalen Hurts? No thanks. Our last 3000 yard passer since 2007 is at WVU but that's water over the bridge.

Sorry, Jalon... Jalon Jones 4* out of Richmond. As far as Grier, might want to talk to Chad about that one, he knew what a cluster his son was in, and what a better fit he was for the WVU offense.

it is time to see what Trask can do
I wouldn't hesitate to give him playing time Saturday if we jump out to a comfortable lead, but it's too early to be handing over the reigns.

Wow, I did not know that kid was in Richmond. I should go watch him play.

Or if they do. This is a big game for Franks because of last week's performance. I'm rooting for him and hoping last week was a minor setback but not very confident.

This team reeled off like 4 TDs in no time when they fell behind to Hawaii and Arkansas big. If we see Trask it will probably be due to falling behind or in the very last couple of minutes of the game if we do get a big lead.

As spotty as he played, it was his letting his emotions get the better of him that was the greater concern. He effectively took himself out of the game. He needs to get a better handle on that if he wants to be a team leader, which amounts to a little bit more than glad-handing the fans in the end zone after a score.

Watching these breakdowns makes my eyes bleed. How can Mullen not want to at least see what Trask/Jones can do with the "1's"? Look at what Dabo did last week rotating Bryant & Lawrence vs A&M on the road. He had 2 QB's that he deemed close in ability, and put them under the scope in a game, what a concept!

If Franks is the only answer right now, this program is as bad off as most of us think.

Mullen claimed he doesn't have one set offense, but rather will coach to his players strengths. Then he put Franks in a situation where he ran or threw on 75% of the offensive plays. To me the answer isn't Trask or EJ in place of Franks (although I do think EJ has to have some called plays in every game).

Rather than a QB change, we need to tweak the offense to get the ball to the long list of playmakers on this team including Perine, Davis, Pierce, Toney, Grimes, Jefferson, Krull, Cleveland, etc, etc, etc. The fact those players were almost invisible in that game is not coaching to your players strengths.

This, we need quick plays to losen up the D in the spread. We know the OL will not hold up for certain plays (lol, off tackle runs or down field) until we do
