Can CeCe Jefferson be suspended?

I still don't understand what you're arguing. Even with targeting, you can make the call that a player hit with the crown of his helmet or that he hit a defenseless player, but it doesn't mean that it was intentional. What we have here are people who watched a play and have declared that Cece deliberately and intentionally tried to take out a guy's knee.
I believe the argument here is based on perception of intent. On that is regularly argued at many levels in various circumstances. The circumstance we are discussing is one of hitting the QB low, at the knees, and if there’s be a suspension from the SEC. We all know the SEC isn’t going to suspend after the fact, this isn’t the NFL. That said, this is all a moot point. Some think there was deliberate intent, others don’t. It’s a ****ing message board. That’s what we do.

When I saw this play I thought it was dirty. If it was against my qb, i would be pissed. Still haven't forgotten about the dockett knee twist on Graham and hand stomping of Grossman.

The play is at 5:53....but still slow motion which makes it difficult to determine intent.

This thread makes me wonder how many people here have ever actually played much organized football.

It was 100% intentional. He crabbed into the guys knee well after he threw the ball. Should’ve been a 15 yard penalty, but like the rest of the night, the refs sucked and missed the call.

It looked intentional to me but I doubt the SEC hands down a suspension looking at it. Too much room to argue otherwise.

I know some years back the SEC suspended a few players for those launching with your helmet hits after the game had been played and before they started making it automatic during the game. I dont remember it ever happening for this type of thing however and I do remember Bama doing some really dirty stuff to either Brantley or Driskel years ago.

No clue if it was intentional or not, but it was definitely late and worthy of roughing the passer.

I’ll put my 2 cents in.
1. People are acting like Jefferson went full sprint shoulder or crown of the helmet first into the QB’s knee. I’ve not seen too many people point out it was CeCe’s hip that hit the QB. Hardly the part of the body you can get the most force behind. If he was trying to injure him, boy did he do it stupidly.
2. His momentum stops as he makes contact with the QB. If you are trying to balance yourself, usually hitting something helps steady you. And again, why not throw into it further if you are trying to injure a guy? Like roll because you can’t stop or something.

And, if he did do it intentionally, I don’t want him around. I just don’t think it was intentional

That’s what I noticed. I’ll venture a guess that if CC intended to injure the QB, he’d have followed through the contact and the QB would’ve flipped head over heels and landed on his noggin.

As for majority of replies to this thread. I never realized we had so many mind-readers here. Some of y’all have Professor X level skills.

I don't think CeCe was trying to injure the QB. However, I do think he surely was hellbent on HITTING the QB any way possible on that play, even late. It struck me as a guy that had real hate in his heart - maybe that quarterback was talking **** as some have suggested. Anyway, I'm surprised they didn't flag him.

I'm sure the coaches will lecture him this week when they watch the tape.

Not intentional. CeCe's body was knocked tumbling & stumbling on all 4s. His eyes stared at the turf where he needed to place his hands to regain body control. Unseeing he hit the QB's planted leg = no give. Only that stopped CeCe's slide. Had the QB jumped a bit, CeCe's body would have rolled under him. That was an oddity of football's hurtling bodies hurting someone.

Florida vs. Tennessee score: Gators romp over Volunteers to give Dan Mullen first SEC win

3. Watch for news on Vols QB Jarrett Guarantano: The redshirt sophomore signal-caller left the game in the second half with a leg injury after being rolled up on by Gators quarterback Cece Jefferson. Guarantano did not return and was replaced by Keller Chryst.

Was the hit clean or dirty? Here's a link to view it and judge for yourself.

Plus, what happens to Jefferson now? He's one of the stars of the Gators defense, and they turn around and go to Mississippi State next weekend after the Bulldogs were stunned by Kentucky. Coaches routinely send plays to the SEC office, and there's no doubt that Pruitt will send this one in.

Could a suspension be looming? If it does, that could throw a wrench in the works after Mullen's first big win at Florida.
No. No penalty. Unintentional. QB was barley bumped.

It was just a stupid play any way you look at it...........gotta be smarter than that.

I'm not sure how to phrase this but "No Flag, no Foul"!

Trying to determine intent is like trying to speak Rogdochar!
