... is 9-3 overall with a 5-3 conference record at the end of his first regular season at UF, just like he and Creyer were at the close of the 2005 season .....

Could not agree more. We're flawed, we're ugly, but we're winning, damn it. And without some jackass going complete apeshyt on the sideline or apoplectic afterward.
I dunno. Mac looked flawed and ugly winning with Chumps defense. Mullen actually made a respectable offense and pretty decent defense. Both have their flaws and some in game management decisions need to improve but overall - feel a lot better in 2018 than I did in 2015 after a season with a similar record.

Open letter to Dan Mullen:

Dan,
First let me say how proud we are of what you did with this team and for the fan base. Like so many before us that were lost and without hope you brought it roaring back. In 1990 Fla football changed forever. From the eternal bride's maid to the Glorious queen of matrimony. We reveled in it all the way through the Timmy Tebow years. Along with that came the expectations of being great every year. Then the decade of darkness descended and we turned on each other and worse on our team. If only we had a QB or if only we had 5 *s or only if Foley had backed SOS on the thuggery of fsu. There is a long list but you know about it. You were here for some REAL glory years and understand what it takes to be great. It seems you took the best parts of your mentor and applied it to our struggling program. The results were obvious to most of us. We are all proud of the improvements in our players character, work ethic and team spirit. Dan, I hope you never lose sight of what you did this year and keep applying the same principles and lessons as you move us forward to greatness again. It is fun to be a gator again.
Your biggest fan,
stephenpe (coach)

...Infectious...every time he is in front of the camera you can see and hear the joy in his approach. He has this program heading upwards, will be interesting to see what happens with a few of our Juniors whether they stay or leave. Damn, where did the season go? Couldn’t wait for last year to end, & can’t believe this regular season is over!

First year he completes 50% of what used to be SOS's goals for the season. Beat Toothless, beat Ugay, do those things and you probably win the East. Beat FSU and have a chance to win the SECCG. That will put you in the NC game. This current team beats UK if we played them now I do believe. We had them early and weren't up to speed just yet. FF is better...no doubt but going into the spring I'd expect that he and Jones will be equally judged and the starting lines will be at the same place for both. The next step will be to recruit in the top 10 if not the top 5 and start building a team that can beat Ugay, and eventually stand toe to toe with Bama.

A lot smarter than me since I questioned the way he was attacking FSU's defense and we rolled to 536 total yards.

We do such a good job with in game adjustments, picking on the weaker parts of the opposing defenses.

I wonder what is wrong with out QA/GA game film guys that they cant spot these things themselves. We need upgrades in there. I suspect we see it soon.

Its going to take several to five recruiting classes until we are able to just impose our will on teams rather than find a weakness then exploit it.

As DM pointed out after the game, when your running back breaks through a stacked front, it's nothing but daylight.

I'll take a win.

As far imposing our will, I'll be happy with a QB we can count on.

We forget what we have some times. As frustrating as he is, Franks hits some of those deep outs or deep posts by throwing a rocket that problably only a handful of kids in cfb can make. Danny Wuerffel and many other great QBs could (edit could NOT) make some of those passes. He is a generally serviceable runner with some power, too. And he is STILL just a sophomore guys. Just a soph.

I thought EJ would take over in October but that hasnt happened yet. In a new offense, first year to second year is generally the biggest improvement.

You think Franks starts next season? I guess we will hopefully see EJ in the bowl game getting some meaningful reps against a top 10 opponent. That game will go a long way to determine the starter next year I suppose. Either way, an experienced FF, a coached EJ, then Trask coming back from injury and JJ enrolling early. QB position suddenly gets pretty deep.

Pump the brakes there, donk! I’m assuming you’re hinting at FF’s arm strength, but Danny Boy’s accuracy, timing and IQ to know where everyone is on the field at all times (including the defenders) means he could do anything FF can do, and do it better, EXCEPT throw on a frozen rope.

Also, I still have doubts about FF’s ceiling, though I hope he proves me wrong next year. I’d love to see EJ win the starting job or significant minutes because he earned it in a hard fought battle for excellence vice FF forfeiting his time. We shall see...

And you should lay off the sauce.
