After seeing Franks' improvement this year, the only thing I can say is Mac and Nuss were complete failures (as if we didn't know already).

Someone made a post about what does Franks look like in practice.

I've realized that Franks has some truly phenomenal moments and some truly horrible moments. It appears that when he plays tense or pressured he is awful but when he is loose and comfortable he shows that perfect blend of pure natural talent and skill. Some of his throws are just wow!

If Franks can learn to play comfortable, which I think Mullen is teaching him to do i.e dancing with him, then he can be a serious threat. That's my hope for him

I feel like EJ is ultimately a more accurate passer, and can probably run a little better, though we'll see how he takes real hits in the future.

That said, Franks showed a ton of progress this year over last year. Has everything to do with this coaching staff.
If Franks can make the kinds of leaps he made from last year to this year again next year, then he should be pretty darn good. Hopefully the offense will really start hitting it's stride and we open this sucker up.

There's a reason why it's the toughest position in professional sports. You have to be able to process and react to a ton of info in a nanosecond. Most humanoids can't do it.

I think Franks is one of them.

Franks will rival Danny and Tim when he's done in popularity at UF. Everyone seems to forget this is his first time in this offense and with a new HC who can coach him. There's no point in starting EJ next year when Franks will be leading the team to victory and impressing NFL scouts. EJ will be the starter in his RS Soph year barring injury

I’ll be the bad guy here. I’m still not sold, far from it.

He played Great against FSU. Best I’ve seen him play. I also concede his coaching from H.S. to the date Mullen was hired was Taggart-level poor.

However, he’s just too inconsistent. Too many WTF moments. He’s the college version of Jay Cutler. I don’t want to put the fate of the Gators with a risky QB.

He was trending up at the end of the season, but right before that he got benched. For a reason: he was bad, very bad.

If he keeps the upward trajectory, awesome. I’m all for it. But to ignore his benching and claim he could be all SEC ahead of Tua or Fromm next year is silly.

Hope I’m wrong, but I’m not buying in just yet.

He has shown marked improvement from last year to this year. Coaching. We have had zero coaching at many positions over the last several years, but none so sh!tty as at QB. If he improves nearly as much next year as he has this year, we and he will be fine. Frankly, (pun intended) I’m pleasantly surprised and I may need to be eating crow...

As evidenced by the Missouri game. Franks can’t take a game off if we’re expecting to win a championship.

Another thing. He's shown tremendous leadership in leading two or three come-from-behind wins, two of them on the road. He's got the full support of his teammates in spite of the rumor two weeks ago.

What I've really noted the last two games is a big willingness to sacrifice his body. He (and we) may pay for it in the long run but this kid is showing leadership in multiple ways.

Winning ugly may become our new motto. I'm cool with that, too.

I have noticed this as well. His teammates are 100% behind him which says a lot about him.
