He's too fuggin stupid to realize when you go 3 and out on more than half your possessions, you probably don't want to "hurry up" while doing it.
But if you "hurry up" on those 3 and outs you get MORE 3 and outs, so you get more plays.
It's "clown logic".

You also don't want to do it when you're RB may have broken the plane of the end zone and a few extra seconds could lead to a review and TD. That one moment, which led to a false start on the next play and killed any chance of a score, should've told nole fans everything they needed to know about their new head coach.

F$U President Thrasher riding the bandwagon (from Clown...err Warchant):

For starters, he pointed out that Taggart had to piece together a coaching staff in short order last December, while also working to salvage a recruiting class that had been largely neglected by former head coach Jimbo Fisher.

More on recent recruiting issues:

Along with that issue and a very challenging schedule, Thrasher added that there were obvious shortcomings on the roster Taggart inherited.

“They’re good kids and motivated,” Thrasher said. “But clearly, it showed that recruiting, over the last few years, had not been at a high enough level in certain areas.”

And more on coaching staff problems:

Thrasher did not offer specifics on any changes, but he said the university will step up to make sure that Taggart can surround himself with a high-quality staff.

“In my view, there will probably be some assistant coaches -- a couple, I don’t know how many -- but I think there’s maybe a couple that may go other places," Thrasher said. "So we’re going to have to fill those, and we’ll be judicious about that and supportive. I’m gonna make sure he gets the resources he needs to hire -- if he has to hire some others -- the best and the brightest that he has to get."

A statement like that however unintended can do nothing but help his main competitors, mainly UF, UM,Clemson and.Auburn

In WT defense, JF (and his wife) left the team in disarray. He’s going to need 3-5 years to rebuild.

I'm all for a bunch of knuckleheads on here trashing Steiner and Taylor, or venting about the OL and Franks. But having the head coach, and now the President of the freaking university, openly denigrating his players and repeatedly stating that they have to bring in better, more talented guys, is about as low as I've ever seen.

It's one thing to talk about upgrades and recruiting, or to question heart on certain occasions. It's something entirely different to make it a season-long mantra. Even the annnouncers in several games, including Saturday, talked about the "10 men" situations, the lack of preparation, terrible play calls, etc. And we're disregarding all that, and choosing to attack amateurs instead?

That is a joke, and I hope DM and the staff will jump all over that.

Sounds like they’re going back to the Bobby Bowden model (currently being used at LSU).

They’re going to keep the HC as a figurehead and recruiting “closer” while using OC and DC to actually coach the team.

We’ll see if it works.

Instead of starting a new thread I will just ask it here since it is similiar ... what about Pruitt? UT is also 5-7 and not bowl eligible and IMO under performed. Whats the consensus forecast for Pruitt?

It depends on whether he chooses to change. Unlike Taggelwain, his teams weren't undisciplined. They lack talent and his scheme is archaic. He wants to play tough defense, ball control, and win close games. If Pruitt's new OC hire is a good one which intimates a scheme change, UT could be on the right track. He will have to improve in the recruiting area as well.

Just an odd question...UF was UBER talented when Meyer left but the program was broken, right?

Not saying Taggart is a great coach by any means but could have Jimbo left a "broken" program as well?

Just curious...

Hiring a guy who loses more games than he wins according to his previous record and then expecting said coach to win more games than he loses is the definition of insane.

I hope he stays there 10 years. They got muschamped with this guy. If he cant manage to be .500 with Jimbo's guys he will be even worse with his own guys.

The locker room will become cancerous, the players will become undisciplined, and the brand will be damaged.

On a side note, did anyone notice the way taggerts players interacted with him on the sideline. I pointed it out to my wife and she was shocked. It was if these guys were speaking to him as if he was their moms new boyfriend. It was bad

TN has talent issues.

But that was equally a joke. There was no reason an effective coach couldn't have success with the roster Meyer left. The defense alone was good for 8 wins. It wasn't perfect, but the only reason that myth got traction was because we had a spaced out Meyer with Daz as OC in 2010 and then a multi-program proven failure as head coach the next few seasons. If Foley makes a smart decision then, we have a completely different looking decade.

This is, and has always been the mantra of losers. As Law said in another thread, maybe the most encouraging thing from Mullen this season is that he didn't constantly harp on that subject. And he absolutely could've , as he had a legitimate gripe. WT can talk about broken culture all he wants, but that has nothing to do with having opposing players point out that you don't have enough men on the field. Obviously, I'm biased. But watch this from their own side...

F$U also has talent issues ... their OL is horrendous which will nullify a lot of talent advantages you might have at skill positions. With that said, UT has more serious talent issues than F$U but it seemed to me they played above their talent level in some games and way below in other games. While I think it is easy to look at Taggert and go ahead and pin "Dead Man Walking", the jury is still out on Pruitt. But I dont think he wants to be there.

Yeah, we had the #2, #3, #11 and #12 classes prior to Meyer "checking out". Not saying they are the same but sometimes the culture is broken AND you hire a crappy coach.

Fair enough. I just think it's become too convenient to blame a "culture" every time an AD has to bring in a new coach and it fails. What exactly was the culture like of the 2002-2005 classes when Meyer took over? Or the culture of perennial 7 win UF win Spurrier came?

But that aside, I hope you take a few to watch that video. The guy on the left (our right)seems like he's about to lose it the whole time, and flat out calls out the staff. It's awesome.
