I love the Keys! Been going at least once a year for many years now. The last several trips my wife and I have taken the kids (now 10 and 8). The only part of the Keys that I'm honestly not that familiar with is Key West. Been several years since we've been there. But for family activities the best places are around Marathon and Islamorada. If you've decided on Key West, then I'm afraid I can't be much help. But if you want any advice on things to do and see and places to eat in the middle and upper Keys, let me know.
Has the best orange hat with blue rooster. I get a new one every year.By far my pretty much favorite restaraunt. Ever. Funky, eclectic, amazing food, cats and chickens galore.
I like Robbies and the mexican/cuban place as the Caloosa Cove marina. On your way down stop at Wahoo’s in Islamorada for lunch. Food is decent but it’s the first really good view you get of the water and it’s awesome. If you’re there on the weekend you’ll see the sandbar going strong which is pretty cool.
Yes but if you have a boat, and like to fish, the keys are niceI was disappointed the last time I went.
I'd go to the Bahamas instead.
Best place in FL for beaches IMO is Destin.

No doubt Nola. I will retire to the Destin area. But the Keys are a great place to visit with an unmatchable vibe.
Always wanted to see Fort Jefferson on Dry Tortugas.
Honestly, the only reason for the trip is for me to see this. That day is already booked.
In Marathon there’s the small, but good Aquarium Encounters. For a nice, fun beach there’s Sombrero Beach. In Islamorada go to Robbie’s Pier to feed the tarpon, check out local artists, and charter an eco tour with Sam (Keyz Charters). On our last excursion with her we saw sharks, rays, and crocodiles up close in the wild. You can probably skip Theater of the Seas—it’s pricey, cheesy, and your kids are probably too old anyway. If you’re going to snorkel, it’s definitely worth the drive to Key Largo to go to Pennekamp.
As for restaurants, there are too many good ones to hit in one short trip, but a couple I highly recommend in Marathon are Island Fish Company and Keys Fisheries. In Islamorada, go to Lazy Days, Shrimp Shack, and Marker 88 for dinner and Bobs Bunz and Mangrove Mike’s for breakfast. A great place for lunch on your way out of the Keys is Sundowners in Key Largo.
Hopefully you and your family will love the Keys like we do.
