The timing of this announcement seems odd. I would have thought they would have held on to this until after signing day.
This 18 class was told the butters complex would be complete in 2020 then the new complex was 2021. Someone, a recruit or parent called bullshat so they made the announcement of the new timeline. And on top of that Stickland pulls the new lockerooms out of his ass because I haven't heard one word about it.

There's also been a lot of talk about the new move in date and I haven't read them all, but based on the old timeline plus one year the actual move in date will be August of 2022.

Been on the road for a week, so haven't been able to respond to the latest delay. Simply astounding. Committing $65M to baseball is mind boggling. As a point of reference, my daughter goes to Cal State Fullerton. The Titan baseball team has won 4 national titles and have been to 18 college world series. They are fundraising now looking to raise $6M over the next 3 years to upgrade baseball and softball facilities. $6M!. For an elite program. Yet, somehow we think it makes sense to spend $65M on baseball alone.

The excuse of course, is that we need to move baseball to build what we need for football. I think that's complete BS. From what I can see, there are plenty of other options.

1. Build the football complex where the current track/soccer field stands and move that to the new baseball location. Can't cost much to put up some stands and put down a track.

2. Move the entire football complex to the location we plan to move baseball. I could be wrong, but I don't think the football complex has to be right next to the Swamp. This would mean we'd have to rebuild a $17M IPF. Would probably raise some eyebrows, but its a whole lot cheaper than spending $65M on baseball.

3. Build the football complex where the parking structure is next to the O'Dome. Would have to give up some parking, but still better than the current plan.

All three of these options would allow us to break ground immediately and free up even more money for football. Might even free up enough to bring housing up to where it needs to be.

This whole thing is infuriating. Mizzu is spending $98M, UGA just spent $63M and South Carolina is spending $50M all on facilities that were just completed, or will be done in a year or so. Meanwhile we're talking about something that won't be done until after this year's recruiting class has already graduated.

Complete insanity.

The Stench remains and probably will for a very long time. It takes many years to overcome the myriad of mistakes of an idiotic, feckless, incompetent leader. Just ask General Electric!!!

Be creative at problem-solving, for Pete's sake. Need to 'gain' space = build a multi-storied parking garage on a present parking lot. Make a below-level parking with one of our operational facilities atop the parking level. That's a start.

This is the classic tactic pulled by government bureaucrats. If they want more money they always claim that the cuts must be made in some very popular program. For instance in local government, they're never going to cut the zoning department, inspections, city works, garabge or all those places that their special ed nephews and cousins work. They will always claim they have to eliminate the midnight shift of the police department, or shut down a fire department station in a rich neighborhood and another in a poor neighborhood, always calculated to produce the most public outcry.....
unless you raise taxes or pass a levy.

This is what these azzholes are doing. They plan a Taj Mahal of a baseball field, even though the current baseball field is already empty, and massive spending on everything but football... and say it all has to wait until you people send more money. Football is last even though football makes 90% of the money.

You would think we were a CUSA team by the way these people plead poverty. Its amazing that we are STILL near the top of the list in donations and revenue, we haven't spent money on anything of significance in the last 35 years, and they act penniless.

Let's think. I've come up with the idea that Foley & the AAU guys have co-mingled personal funds with football profits to afford them enough $ grubstake to buy into Berkshire Hathaway and they lose too much $ penalty by withdrawing it too soon. ??
