UCF is whiny, offensive, misguided, Bush League ... and still in the discussion.

In spite of their ludicrousness, or maybe because of it, they've at least partially succeeded what they set out to do.

Being laughed at and mocked isn't really the type of discussion they probably had in mind, but it's where they're at right now.

Maybe they have been watching too much major leage 3 where the buzz beat the twins... Look kiddies, ain't gonna happen. Gators are not afraid of you, only laughing, and your infantile attempts to be one of the big boys is just laughable to the rest of the nation.

In the words of Motley Crue, girl, don't go away mad, girl just go away!

Have they hung their 2nd National Championship banner yet? They did almost beat a 3 loss SEC team, beating a 4 loss SEC team earned them one last year.
Yeah, and the game against LSU wasn't really that close, and they were playing with have their roster and the other half got ejected. "let them eat cake."

Move up a level and see how that works out for you.

That’s the rub. They can’t unless the ACC or Big 12 invites them. Given the meteoric growth and development underway at UCF, I think one of them should. (UCF is on the verge of surpassing F$U as the #2 state school, already has in undergraduate ranking at US News.)

The other annoying piece is that in all the conference promotional material - down to the chain gang on the sideline - the AAC promotes itself as a “P6” conference. NO SUCH THING.

A case can be made that the AAC is competitive with the ACC. The ACC was just 6-4 against them this year and UCF plowed division champ Pitt as badly as Clemson did. They are in part a remnant of the Big Least. But the self-proclaiming is silly.

UCF could go independent for football & create a reasonable schedule of home & home series against P5 opponents like F$U did in the 1980’s, but there’s a lot of risk with little hope if reward in that.

.

Not according to the post above.. or the actual rankings.

US News has UCF as #165 (tied with Idaho), FSU is #70 (USF is #124 for comparison, ScUM is #53).

Florida is #35 (tied with GA Tech). Sorry, Knights, but it isn't close and won't be for a LONG time.

Speaking of conference expansion, they will need allies when that day comes. Alienating folks like Stricklin is not the way to do it.

I understand that it would be difficult, but start by identifying your goal and then move toward it, It might be that a new conference is the answer, perhaps an mostly Florida one. They don't even see the need to change to get where they want to be.

There isnt a chance in hell the SEC would ever be interested in a directional school nor any chance we wouldnt veto even if the were.

The totally ignore defense. But even the B12 is an incredible stretch.

Stop with the size comparisons. UCF is a commuter school. The campus ain’t that big. I think they count anybody that enrolls even if they live at home. Not full time.
We are the 3rd largest state in the country. All our universities are going to have high enrollment.
At the end of the day they are still a directional school. A step up from a community college. Yeah the academics are good in certain fields and they have the med school expansion going on but they serve only central Florida. Not the state and certainly not the country. Just locals.

The ACC is not adding another Florida program. The Big 12 is not expanding in my life time. Certainly the SEC or Big10 are not options. They’d make a good PAC12 team. LOL
UCF ain’t gonna be relevant independent would be only path and I’m sure they wouldn’t do that if just because they can’t afford it.
