What the CFP championship game and Clemson's success overall brought forth to me is:
1. You need a stud at QB
2. A solid, stout OL
3. Playmakers on both offense and defense. You need a DL that will pressure the QB.
4. You need to be multiple on defense and confuse the opposing QB
I agree if we add:
5. Ballers at CB and S to shut down the passing game and support the run defense
6. Great LB's to make goalline stands and stop red-zone TD's
7. At least one great RB to give the offense balance and keep the D guessing.
8. Buy-in from the players and a great strength and conditioning program.
9. Successful program culture.
10. Luck to avoid the possible losses you could have playing a team like Syracuse or UGA.
11. Program experience of being in a big game before.
If you add these, and maybe a few more, I'd agree.
