There were some positives to take from this game. More set plays, more designed inside plays and some dribble drives, and solid job on the offensive glass. Team still can't close out games, and there are no moral victories. But they gave themselves a chance to pick up a road win, which is about all you can ask for with this team at this juncture.

Whatever is the opposite of clutch is exactly what this team is. Like I said, this team is damn near unwatchable. It's getting to be like Mac ball. No fun and each loss hurts a little less. Did anyone think there was any chance we were going to win when it came down to a knotted up game in the final couple minutes?

White can demand inside game from Bassett, Stone, Hayes & any 6'8" guys by driving them into it at practices. Use inside-man coach Pinkins to drive the mindset & relentless practice effort. Forbid Basset, Stone from shooting 3s. Certainly yell at them continually at practice when they stray outside the arc. We need the "talls" inside.

This season we are seeing a blanket fail, a totally ineffective "team", playing the way they are trained. Blaming the players is saying 8-9-10 successful h.s. "stars" are flopping at UF unlike 10 other SEC teams' players are doing.?? Credit goes to those 10 other SEC winning coaches and discredit goes to lesser coaches who get less from their players.

So is whiny-ass White looking to us for forgiveness, excusing, whimping that "It's these players. I can't do anything with them." A college basketball program cannot grow that way. The only way is for the coach to make a winning team for his University employer. White is CEO of this program. Should we have low expectations of him?

How might he do that? Go out there and play???

White's job is to teach them how to play basketball. He gets multimillions $ to mold already good players into better players. It's every coach's career, middle school, high school, college. Our talls aren't taught, drilled on gripping the ball, putting it through the rim, or drawing the foul. Ours do too little of that, while the other team does more of that per their training & mindset. What's being put in the BBall IQ of these players is flawed, inadequate = that's what gives the results we're seeing. Sure, rake away these faulty players and put next year's incoming "stars" on the court. Next year they will turn White into a good coach - so unlike the crummy players we have now.??

Yeah I honestly don't see us winning another game the rest of the season. Probably should tank it so we can get White fired. Like I said a few games ago, I don't think he makes it through the season...

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that I do think we win another game this season, but I can't point you towards which one. I also think Mike White does make it through the season. Call it a hunch.

My .02 is that this game--and especially the last 20 seconds--sums up our entire 2019 Florida basketball team.

White actually had them in a position to tie or win at the end (mostly by encouraging the team to play defense and be dialed-in on forcing turnovers and playing a scrappy press that always seems to unsettle most of our opponents): we have the ball with 20 seconds left and are running around without a coherent plan and unable to get an open look with none of our players working together to help create space. We miss the initial shot--but are bailed out when a Miss State player inexplicably tries to save the ball from going out of bounds and we get a turnover on hustle and an easy layup to tie. 13 seconds left. Our press doesn't work and Hayes--a Senior Center with dozens of SEC games under his belt--goes for a charge on the road instead of playing defense when none of the recent whistles went our way. Predictably, he fails miserably--Miss State scores, gets the and 1 and we're down by 3.

Gators lose.

If that doesn't sum up this season in a nutshell, I don't know what does. No offensive strategy or coaching direction under White with an opportunity to win the game at the end; and piss-poor execution and basketball IQ from a Senior who's supposed to be a leader out there.

I've accepted that this is a lost season and that whatever wins we get are just bonuses along the way and it's extremely doubtful we make the tournament (and probably won't make the NIT at this rate). But it pisses me off to no end to have a winnable game slip out of our finger..AGAIN...due to incompetence by our coach and by our players.
