Stone and Hudson have regressed big time. Allen is up and down, but nothing like the player he was his freshman year. Hayes plays hard, but has not improved much at all over his 4 years there. Fumbles the ball, a step slow on defense, turns the ball over, commits dumb fouls. The freshmen are the best players right now, but will they improve or regress over time? There IS talent on this team, but it is not being developed. That is 100% on the coach.

A lot of these guys could shoot last year, what is the problem now? Maybe the type of practices?

The freshmen are the best players right now, but will they improve or regress over time? There IS talent on this team, but it is not being developed. That

It has to be that fundamental skills/mindsets are being contaminated over and over. That's gotta be malpractice. Does it seem that the players exposed to this regime's wrong focus the longest falter the most? Yeah, maybe Hudson is doing bad on his own.

But this team cannot be well-coached, well-practiced and play BBall in this manner.
The flaws are so widespread that they're pandemic i.e. taught across the board.
Fundamentals that aren't in operational modes, that cannot be driven home in practices .... IDK but =

1) bigs not shown, not houndingly reminded & rehearsed in max-spread of fingers in gripping the ball so it won't be easily dislodged so easily.
2) all players not drilled in speedy positioning movement, such that defenders are lagging in covering.
3) zero determined desire by bigs to attack the rim over and over, relentlessly -- score or get fouled.
4) zero mindset by ball handlers to lean forward, dribble low to give their defender a dilemma.
5) they all are unaware of how crucial the fastest passing is to making defenders stumble chasing.
6) the passer/talls are on different wavelengths, rarely connecting for that inside scoring,. No attack?
7) I've heard White emphasize shoot, shoot, keep shooting to everybody. That's his huddle mantra?
8) not drilled into shooters that being set, squaring body-to-basket for every shot puts it in.
9) there seems zero mindset on getting in rebound positions.
10) we do not coordinate attacking positions in a timely manner ... we got no manners.
11) etc, etc - fill in the blanks where we're shooting blanks in widespread variegated style?

Sure, I gotta guess at such things ... but guess who is losing lead-gaps, guess who's losing games?
One can see that these Gators are not "coached-up" as well as our opponents are. That's the crux.

White's job is to teach them how to play basketball. He gets multimillions $ to mold already good players into better players. It's every coach's career, middle school, high school, college. Our talls aren't taught, drilled on gripping the ball, putting it through the rim, or drawing the foul. Ours do too little of that, while the other team does more of that per their training & mindset. What's being put in the BBall IQ of these players is flawed, inadequate = that's what gives the results we're seeing. Sure, rake away these faulty players and put next year's incoming "stars" on the court. Next year they will turn White into a good coach - so unlike the crummy players we have now.??

Thanks, I read that he is trying to get them to have a sense of responsibility and such but has not been able to figure it out. Apparently he has tried a variety of coaching, none has been effective. You might know a lot more about such as I have never been coached on such things, my coaching is on say business or manufacturing where it is different.

? Can't get through to them like all those other coaches get their players on-board.

A friend called and said that Pat Dooley is ripping us again for complaining about White and he stated that Stricklin says that White will be here for a very long time. Although he was mocking us quite a bit he stopped short of calling us gidiots again. If you recall, Dooley mocked us continuously about Butters and then after he was fired he joined in and piled on with us. I found this hilarious since I know he is a complete homer but it concerns me that Stricklin may actually believe that all is well

Actually, the attacks inside really were tried as part of our offense last night. If only they had enough training to be most effective at it - to collapse inward in tandem. Only if big-men are gradually moving towards 4 fouls are they playing correctly. ??

Will White last? His seat has got to be getting hot?

As I said with chump and butters is what must be done eventually must be done now...White isn’t cut out for this level. This goes beyond coaching games...there’s no development...he’ll most of our best players have regressed under him

There are too many available who can do the job.

Dooley is the last SOB on Earth who should be questioning the intelligence of Gator fans. The guy is a pompous, out of touch hack who seldom gets anything right, and is too much of a weasel to admit it. Robbie A isn't much better. The Sun is a total joke.

I often ask myself how a college-town newspaper can employ 2 dinosaurs like Dooley and Andreu to run their sports coverage. I get one experienced dinosaur and a Bowl type protege, but 2 out-of-touch fossils? Not only are their takes self-indulgent, but they are often ignorant. I guess journalism must be much harder than I perceive, or the pay is so low nobody with any talent stays in Gainesville and we're left with these 2 hacks.

Anyway, I feel better getting that off my chest. Thanks!!

I have trouble, then & now, of seeing John Egbunu as a star. His best year, no injury hampering 6'11" Egbunu was blah = 32 min/g .. 9ppg (low).. 59% FG% (that's bad for an inside big man) ... 6.5 rebs/g ... 1.4 blk/g ... and 0.4 ast/g (so he didn't set up shots for teammates) and 56% FT (bad).

Every team that presently has 12 wins has at least one 6'8, 6'9 forward who scores 14+ ppg where they make better than 55%. White can target productive 'talls' in recruiting. But they'll regress if offered no inside plays, no playmaker teammates determined to help him score. No drilling coach making them demonstrate this required skill. Our guys are taught no reasons to congregate near the rim.

I am impatient to watch Gator basketball played smartly. IMO, UF deserves coaching that choreographs cutting to the basket even empty-handed, dish-off assists, inside man demanding the ball, incessant weaving, etc - just watch Duke, Kansas, NC, most ACC teams, even when they lose they're playing correctly. Their opponent is just giving them more of the same. The pattern of solid basketball is immitateable.

We are the only team in college basketball that doesn't have a player who
has scored 20 or more points in a game this season.
